The Mercedes EQE SUV is offered in five different versions - three 'regular' versions and two AMG badged models, making the EQE SUV, the first performance electric SUV from Affalterbach.

The entry-level version of the new Mercedes electric SUV is the EQE 350+. The Mercedes EQE 350+ is a rear-wheel drive version of the EQE SUV that delivers a range of up to 590km on the WLTP and sports a single electric motor producing 288bhp and 565Nm of peak torque.

The EQE 350 4Matic version of the EQE SUV adds another motor to the front axle which results in the range dropping to 558km (WLTP). While the power is the same as the RWD EQE 350+, the 350 4Matic's torque output goes up to 765Nm.

The range-topping, non-AMG version of the EQE SUV is the EQE 500 4Matic which offers a WLTP range of up to 547km. The dual motor setup in the EQE 500 4Matic SUV produces 402bhp and 858Nm of peak torque.

The base AMG model of the new EQE SUV range is the EQE 43 4Matic which also sports a dual-motor setup good for 469bhp and 858Nm of peak torque. The EQE 43 4Matic SUV delivers a range of up to 488km on the WLTP cycle. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 43 4Matic can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds and hit a top speed of 210km/h.

The most powerful EQE SUV model on offer is the new EQE 53 4Matic+ SUV which delivers 617bhp and 950Nm in standard guise. Owners opting for the AMG Dynamic Plus package can raise the output from the two motors to 677bhp and 1,000Nm of peak torque. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ will sprint from 0-100km/h in a claimed 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 240km/h. The Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4Matic+ delivers a WLTP range of up to 470km on a single charge.

All versions of the Mercedes EQE SUV lineup sport the same 90.6kWh (usable) battery pack that supports DC fast charging speeds of up to 170kW. If you can plug a Mercedes EQE SUV into a 170kW charger, the electric family carrier will add 220km of range in just 15 minutes.

The Standard Mercedes EQE SUV models are 4,863mm long, 1,940mm wide and 1,686mm tall. The AMG versions of the EQE SUV are slightly longer, slimmer and shorter and stand 4,879mm long, 1,931mm wide and 1,672mm tall. All versions of the new EQE SUV from Mercedes feature a 3,030mm wheelbase and a 520-litre boot.

As stated earlier, the Mercedes EQE SUV looks like someone took the EQS SUV to a Xerox machine and shrunk it down to 75 per cent. At the front, the EQE SUV features angled headlights with two lighting elements joined together by a slim LED light bar that runs above the faux grille section bearing a massive Mercedes badge. AMG models feature 'power domes' on the bonnet.

The EQE SUV rides on alloy wheels ranging from 19 to 22-inches in size with AMG models getting their own specific designs. Also seen on the sides is a silver side step (an optional extra) that can help bring down the drag coefficient of the electric EQE SUV.

The rear section of the Mercedes EQE SUV is dominated by the vehicle's full-length lightbar-style taillights.

Step inside the new EQE SUV and you'll find yourself reminded of the EQS SUV once again. However, unlike its larger sibling, the new EQE SUV is only offered as a five-seater.

The new EQE SUV can be optioned with Merc's massive 56-inch Hyperscreen setup that now supports Dolby Atmos for an even better audio experience from the Burmeister sound system. The interior of the EQE SUV can be optioned with a leather-free setup for those not wanting to sit on animal hide.

The new EQE SUV comes packed with driver aids including Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Speed Limit Assist among others.
