German carmaker Mercedes-AMG has revealed the One hypercar. The Mercedes-AMG One is powered by a current-gen Formula One engine and 4 electric motors.

German carmaker Mercedes-AMG has revealed the One hypercar. The Mercedes-AMG One is priced at £2.5 million and is limited to just 275 units all of which are sold out.

Mercedes-AMG One Specs & Powertrain

The Mercedes-AMG One is powered by a turbocharged 1.6-litre V6 engine used by the Mercedes Formula One car which is helped by four electric motors that combine together to produce 1049bhp (782kW).

One electric motor is used to drive the turbocharger to improve throttle response. Another electrical motor is connected to the engine's crankshaft and produces 161bhp. The final two electric motors are used to drive the front axle and produce a total of 322bhp.

The engine revs all the way up to 11,000rpm and produces max power at 9,000rpm while the maximum turbocharger boost pressure is 3.5 bar. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed automated manual gearbox and the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system with the hybrid-driven rear axle and electrically driven front axle. The system also features torque vectoring.

The Mercedes-AMG One is 4,756mm long, 2,010mm wide and 1,261mm tall. The wheelbase measures 2,720mm long and the hypercar weighs 1,695 kilogrammes and can carry 55 litres of fuel.

Mercedes-AMG One Suspension, Brakes & Tyres

The Mercedes-AMG one features a five-link aluminium coil-over suspension with two transverse adjustable push-rod spring struts and adaptive damping adjustment at both the front and the rear.

Braking duties are handled by 398mm ventilated and perforated carbon-fibre ceramic composite disc brakes with 6-piston fixed aluminium callipers at the front. The rear brakes are again carbon-fibre ceramic units that measure 380mm and feature 4-piston fixed aluminium callpiers.

The Mercedes-AMG One rides on 19-inch wheels shod with 285/35 ZR 19 tyres at the front and 20-inch units shod with 335/30 ZR 20 tyres at the rear. The standard wheels are centre-locking aluminium units with 10 spokes though Mercedes offers 9-spoke units made from Magnesium as an option.

The Mercedes-AMG One also features an active aerodynamic system that in race mode drops the ride height significantly while also opening the flaps on the front wheel arches to let trapped air escape from them. Race mode also deploys the massive spoiler which features a DRS flap that when opened can reduce drag and downforce by around 20 per cent. The DRS mode can be activated at the touch of a button.

The Mercedes-AMG One features a very low-slung aerodynamic design with highlight features like the shark fin at the rear that improves stability and deployable rear wing along with the fancy doors. The wheels as mentioned before feature carbon-fibre bits for better aero.

The insides of the new Mercedes-AMG One sport fixed motorsport-style seats. Drivers can adjust their seating position by moving the pedal box and the F1-style steering wheel backwards and forwards. The doors feature carbon-fibre inserts and there are two 10-inch screens for the driver's display and the infotainment system, both of which feature custom AMG One graphics.

The Mercedes-AMG One started off with the F1 powertrains team wanting to put one of their F1 engines in a road car. Five years later, the Mercedes-AMG One is ready for the road and will be perhaps the most unique of the high-revving hypercars that are currently enticing the rich and the famous people across the world.
