Maruti Suzuki Teases The Upcoming XL6: Comes With New 6-Speed Automatic Gearbox & More

Recently, Maruti Suzuki also launched the 2022 iteration of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in India and the pricing for the Arena MPV starts from Rs 8.35 lakh, ex-showroom.

From the 15-second teaser video released by Maruti Suzuki, it is clear that the updated iteration of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 will sport only minor updates to the exterior. Being a facelift, we expect these updates to be limited to just front and rear bumpers, front grille, and alloy wheels.

However, there is a possibility that Maruti Suzuki could offer the 2022 Maruti Suzuki XL6 MPV with new interior colour schemes and more premium-feeling upholstery.

Though the new facelifted version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga sports a 7-inch infotainment unit, we expect the updated version of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 to sport the same 9.0-inch SmartPlay Pro+ infotainment system from the updated Maruti Suzuki Baleno.

Apart from this, the new infotainment unit will sport Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The updated XL6 will also come with other features such as Auto AC, AC vents on all three rows, roof rails, one-touch recline captain seats for middle-row passengers, a 360-degree surround-view camera and many more.

In terms of safety, we expect Maruti Suzuki to increase the standard safety features on the upcoming version of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 by offering up to 6-airbags as standard and a few more additional safety features such as lane-keeping assist, blind-spot alert, parking assistance and a few more.

We expect Maruti Suzuki to offer the same 1.5-litre powertrain on the new XL6 as the updated version of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.

This means the updated XL6 will come with the same 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 'K15C' petrol engine as the updated Ertiga. The K15C engine is a Dual Jet, Dual VVT petrol engine that features mild-hybrid tech, this engine in the updated Ertiga produces 101.6bhp at 6,000rpm and 136.8Nm of peak torque at 4,400rpm.

Like the new Ertiga, this engine in the XL6 will be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox or a brand new 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox with paddle shifters.

Since the new Maruti Suzuki Ertiga pricing ranges from Rs 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India) to Rs 12.74 lakh (ex-showroom, India), we expect, Maruti Suzuki to price the XL6 MPV at a slight premium with starting price close to Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

The updated iteration of the Maruti Suzuki XL6 MPV is part of the Indo-Japanese automaker's plan to launch six new models by mid-2022. We expect the latest update will give the Maruti Suzuki XL6 a better chance against new rivals in the segment.
