Maruti Suzuki May Launch The New S-Cross In India: International Model Gets ADAS, AWD & More
While we think that Maruti Suzuki is busy gearing up for the launch of its new Baleno hatchback and Jimny SUV in India, the Indo-Japanese car manufacturer might also launch the new S-Cross in India.

This is because Suzuki has already revealed the all-new S-Cross model for the international markets and it will be commercially very beneficial for Maruti Suzuki to launch the new S-Cross in India in order to compete in one of the most competitive segments in the Indian automotive market.

Speaking about the new Suzuki S-Cross, the new model is now underpinned by an updated version of the Global C platform, and it looks a lot more SUV-ish than the outgoing S-Cross sold in the Indian automotive market.
According to sources, the new Suzuki S-Cross is also one of the most feature-packed vehicles in its segment with the inclusion of some advanced features such as a 360-degree surround-view camera, 9-ich infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, heated front seats, automatic climate control and many more.

The new Suzuki S-Cross also comes with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes driver assistance and active safety systems such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear cross-traffic alert, emergency autonomous braking and many more.

That being said, the updated Suzuki S-Cross looks slightly more substantial and more masculine than the outgoing Indian version of the S-Cross, thanks to its upright frontend which houses a more contemporary looking large gloss-black front grille and LED headlights.

Moving to the sides, the silhouette looks a bit boxier than the previous model and the chunky cladding merges neatly with the front and rear bumpers for rugged and tough looks.

The rear of the new Suzuki S-Cross looks fresh thanks to a pair of large clear lens wrap-around taillamps, an integrated roof spoiler and a chunkier reprofiled rear bumper.
However, unlike most updates getting bigger in size, the new Suzuki is actually 10mm shorter than the previous model, measuring at 1,585 mm. Whereas the rest of the exterior dimensions such as length, width and wheelbase remain identical to the previous model at 4,300 mm, 1,785 mm and 2,600 mm respectively.

In international markets, the new Suzuki S-Cross is powered by an all-new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with mild-hybrid tech and thanks to this electrification, this engine produces a healthy 125.2bhp and 235Nm of torque, which is around 21.7bhp and 97Nm more than the outgoing model in India.

However, this engine may not make its way to India and Maruti Suzuki may prefer using the tried-and-tested 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine with 103.3bhp and 138Nm of torque.
Apart from that, the Suzuki S-Cross is available with Suzuki's renowned All-Grip all-wheel-drive system in the international markets. However, the Indian version may ditch this system in favour of the more fuel-efficient front-wheel-drive system.

Overall, the new Suzuki S-Cross now looks a lot more upmarket and SUV-ish than the outgoing model in India and comes packed with a lot more features. However, it will be great if Maruti Suzuki gives the punchier 1.4-litre turbocharged powertrain at least as an option.

Thoughts On The New Suzuki S-Cross
While the new Suzuki S-Cross comes with Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), an all-wheel-drive system and a substantially more powerful engine, the Indian version may not get these to cut down the production cost and keep the prices competitive in the Indian market.
