Maruti Suzuki Recalls 9,125 Vehicles - Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 & Ciaz Affected
Maruti Suzuki, the nation's largest carmaker has issued a recall for 9,125 units of the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, XL6 and Ciaz that were manufactured between the 2nd and 28th of November 2022 due to an issue with the front row seat belts.
The recall has been issued due to a possible defect in one of the child parts of the shoulder height adjuster assembly of the front seatbelts. Maruti Suzuki states that in rare cases this possible defect may lead to seat belt disassembly.
Maruti Suzuki stated that it has decided to recall these 9,125 vehicles as a precautionary measure and to ensure the safety of their customers. Maruti Suzuki will inform affected vehicles through its authorised dealerships for an immediate inspection and if needed replacement of the affected part. These inspections and replacements (if required) will be done free of charge.
Maruti Suzuki is not the only manufacturer affected by the issue with seat belt assembly. The Grand Vitara's badged-swapped sibling - the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder has also been recalled due to the same issue. In the case of the Hyryder, Toyota has called back 994 units of the SUV.
This is not the first recall that Maruti SUzuki has issued this year. Two months back, the carmaker had issued a recall for the WagonR, Celerio and Ignis that were produced between the 3rd of August and the 1st of September due to a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin.
Thoughts About The Recall & Maruti Suzuki's Future Plans
The recall of 9,125 vehicles by Maruti Suzuki is a precautionary one and shows the carmaker is taking care of any safety issues at a rapid pace. This is also something that also ensures that the carmaker will be extra careful regarding the issue with any new vehicles it launches and manufacturers in the future.
Speaking of upcoming launches, Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for Auto Expo 2023 and is expected to continue with its push into the utility vehicle market by unveiling the 5-door Jimny and the Baleno Cross at the nation's biggest auto show.
