Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Base ‘Sigma’ Variant - Everything You Need To Know
Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV is among the most-awaited SUVs in the country. This SUV has been co-developed by Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, and Toyota's iteration of the SUV is called the Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
The biggest highlight of the new Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV is its powertrain options. The SUV exclusively comes with hybrid powertrain options only.
Speaking about the powertrain options, the 'headline' grabber is the strong-hybrid powertrain that uses Toyota's own 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated Atkinson cycle petrol engine. This engine produces a total of 114.5bhp of peak power and uses an eCVT gearbox.
On the other hand, the more affordable powertrain is a mild-hybrid unit that uses the company's tried-and-tested 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated engine. This mild-hybrid powertrain produces a maximum of 101.6bhp of peak power and is expected to produce around 126Nm of peak torque.
Also, this engine can be specified with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. Moreover, this powertrain is the one that comes with Suzuki's famous All-Grip all-wheel-drive system - making it the only SUV in its segment to offer an all-wheel-drive.
Speaking about the base 'Sigma' variant, this model will use the mild-hybrid powertrain and come with 5-speed manual gearbox only. Moreover, it will be exclusively available as a front-wheel drive only.
In terms of exterior features, the base 'Sigma' variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara sports projector headlamps, LED DRLs, and ORVM mounted turn indicators. Being a base model, the sigma variant misses the alloy wheels but comes with 17-inch steel rims with wheel covers.
On the inside, the feature list is a bit longer as the base 'Sigma' variant itself features dual-tone interiors, sliding front armrest, height adjustable driver's seat, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted audio controls, push-button Start/Stop, Auto Climate Control, rear AC vents, music system, 60:40 split folding seats and a few more.
In addition to these features, the base 'Sigma' variant also comes with dual airbags, an electronic stability program (ESP), hill-hold assist, rear parking sensors, ABS with EBD and ISOFIX seats.
Analysing the feature and safety list on the base 'Sigma' variant of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara SUV, it more than satisfies the requirements of many C-Segment SUV buyers as most customers prefer using more stylish-looking aftermarket alloy wheels and Android-based infotainment systems.
Maruti Suzuki will soon reveal the prices of the Grand Vitara SUV and we do expect the base 'Sigma' variant to be priced at Rs 10.99 lakh, ex-showroom.
Thoughts About Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 'Sigma'
The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara 'Sigma' variant more than satisfies the requirements of many C-Segment SUV buyers. With an aggressive tag, we expect this variant to perform well and help Maruti Suzuki finally crack the 'Rs 10++ lakh segment'.
