Mahindra XUV700 Still In High Demand – Waiting Period Remains Largely Unchanged
Despite the launch of the Mahindra Scorpio N, and long waiting periods, the demand for Mahindra XUV700 continues to be high and there is little to no change in its long waiting period. As such, Mahindra is gearing up to increase the production capacity of the XUV700 SUV.

That being said, the current production capacity for the XUV700 SUV stands at 6,000 units per month. However, with the proposed plans, Mahindra will increase the monthly production of the XUV700 SUV to 10,000 units per month.

However, it is worth mentioning that the entry-level variants of the Mahindra XUV700 have the least waiting periods. Diving into details, the petrol-powered MX and AX3 command the least waiting period of one and a half months.

In comparison, the waiting period for the petrol-powered AX5 variant of the Mahindra XUV700 has gone up recently and the waiting period for this variant currently stands at 4 months. Moreover, the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants of the Mahindra XUV700 still command a waiting period of more than 15 months.
It is also worth mentioning that the waiting period for the diesel variant of the Mahindra XUV700 still command a waiting period of more than 10 months even for the base variants.

At present, Mahindra dispatched 5,815 units of XUV700 SUVs in October 2022. Moreover, the average bookings for the SUV currently stand at 11,000 bookings per month. Also, more than 80,000 XUV700 SUVs are yet to be delivered by the automaker.

By increasing the production capacity of the Mahindra XUV700 to 10,000 units per month, up from 6,000 units, we can witness a significant drop in waiting period for the SUV. With the drop in waiting period, Mahindra can expect an increased demand for the SUV as well.
Recently, Mahindra also decided to update the feature list of the XUV700 SUV. However, this newly updated feature list sports a few new features as well as a few features have also been deleted to increase production speed by overcoming semiconductor shortage.

Starting with the base MX variant of the XUV700, Mahindra has deleted features such as rear parking sensors, height adjustable driver's seat, rear spoiler and follow me home headlamps. On the other hand, the AX3 trim of the SUV loses out on features such as a rear wiper, defogger, and selective unlock for doors and boot lid.
Coming to the higher trim levels such as AX5 and AX7, these variants no longer sport the stylish-looking LED sequential turn indicators. However, the most controversial deletion is the removal of the Adaptive Cruise Control feature in the XUV700 AX7L trim level. Speaking about feature addition, the top-spec AX7L AT trim gets adaptive cruise control, a start/stop function and sequential turn indicators.

In terms of powertrain options, the Mahindra XUV700 SUV comes with 3 powertrain options. On the other hand, gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
The petrol engine is a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder engine with 197bhp of peak power and 380Nm of peak torque. While, both diesel engines are 2.2-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder engines. However, the more powerful iteration produces 182bhp of peak power and 450Nm of peak torque.

On the other hand, the diesel powertrain used in the lower variant puts out a respectable 153bhp of peak power and 360Nm of peak torque. It is also worth mentioning that the entry-level diesel engine in the lower state of tune is only available with a 6-speed manual transmission.
Mahindra XUV700 also scored a 5-Star safety rating at the Global NCAP and comes with safety systems such as 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and a lot more.
