Mahindra Teases 3 New Electric SUVs

Along with the video, the Indian automaker released this statement on its Twitter handle, "Welcome to a reimagined world of Born Electric vehicles. Electrifying presence and Exhilarating performance brought to you by Mahindra's team of global designers, engineers and experts. Starting today, Mahindra reveals their Born Electric Vision. Coming soon, July 2022."

The teaser video of the upcoming Mahindra Born Electric vehicles shows off the distinct headlights, taillights and silhouette of three new electric vehicles from the Mumbai based automaker best known for its utility vehicles.

All three vehicles teased in the video feature C-shaped lighting up front, which we reckon are the signature LED daytime running lights for Mahindra's upcoming Born Electric lineup. The largest of the three vehicles teased also features a light bar running across its face. This light bar connects the large C-shaped DRLs to each other.

The same C-shaped lighting setup is seen at the rear of the three electric vehicles. All three teased vehicles feature C-shaped taillights. Like at the front, the largest of the trio features a light bar connecting its C-shaped brake lights.

The three electric vehicles teased ahead of their July 2022 arrival have been designed at the Mahindra Advanced Design Europe studio in the United Kingdom. The three new electric SUVs will be the work of Mahindra's new design chief Pratap Bose, who is best known for transforming the design of the lineup of vehicles from Tata Motors.

Not much is known about the three EVs teased in the video but all three vehicles are expected to be medium or large SUVs. This will be in line with Mahindra's announcement last year that it would not release any new hatchbacks, sedans or small micro SUVs in India but would instead concentrate on the EV sector.

The new electric SUVs from Mahindra will be all-new vehicles and are not expected to be electric versions of its current SUV lineup. One of the three new electric SUV from Mahindra is expected to be the company's first four-door SUV coupe. This electric SUV is expected to be the future flagship of the Mahindra lineup and could bear the XUV900 badge when it does arrive.

Mahindra is palnning to bring out a brand new electric vehicle sub-brand which will concetrate on a range of premium electric vehicles. The three new electric SUVs teased in the video could very well be the first members of this new electric sub-brand from Mahindra. The lineup from the new premium electric vehicle sub brand are expected to start as low as Rs 15 lakh and go as high as Rs 40 lakh in terms of pricing.

Thoughts On Mahindra's Teaser For Its Upcoming EV Lineup

The three new vehicles teased in the new video for July mark the start of Mahindra's accelerated push into the EV market. Mahindra was one of the first mainstream players in the Indian EV market and with its three new EVs it will look to claw back its crown while staying ahead of the chasing pack. We can't wait for July.
