Mahindra Scorpio N Bags 5-Star Safety Rating Under New Global NCAP Protocols
The new Mahindra Scorpio N has bagged a 5-Star safety rating under the new more stringent Global NCAP crash test protocols.
The Mahindra Scorpio N SUV scored 29.25 points out of 34 points for the Adult Occupant Protection test, whereas the SUV bagged 28.94 points out of 48 points for the Child Occupant Protection test.

During the crash test, it was even noted that the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV performed well under the difficult side impact tests. In fact, the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV bagged 16 out of the possible 17 points while conducting the side impact test with a deformable barrier. However, the SUV received an 'OK' rating for the side pole impact test.
Post the crash tests, Global NCAP mentioned that the bodyshell and footwell area of the new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV was found to be stable and capable of withstanding further loadings. However, the chest region of the Adult Occupants received 'Weak' ratings by the Global NCAP.
It is also worth mentioning that securing a 5-Star safety rating under the new Global NCAP safety regulations is more difficult as a 5-Star rating will be only given if the test vehicle secures required scores while complying with Pedestrian Protection, Pole Side Impact, Seat Belt Reminder and ESC requirements of the Global NCAP.
In terms of safety features, Mahindra has not made any major cost-cuttings in this area despite loading the SUV with many features. In fact, even one of the base variants of the Scorpio N SUV still comes with safety features such as ABS, EBD, rear parking sensors, multiple airbags, ventilated disc brakes at the front and rear, and ISOFIX anchoring points
On top of that, Mahindra Scorpio N becomes the third SUV in India to secure a 5-Star safety rating under the new more stringent Global NCAP crash test regulations. The first two SUVs to bag the 5-Star safety rating under the new Global NCAP crash test regulations are the Volkswagen Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq.
That being said, Mahindra has recently commenced the deliveries of the 'Z4' variant of the Scorpio N SUV in the country as the Indian automaker prioritised the deliveries of the top-spec 'Z8' trim level of the SUV over other variants. In fact, Mahindra managed to deliver 7,000 units of the Scorpio N SUVs in the first 10 days after commencing the deliveries of the SUV.
In terms of powertrain, the petrol engine uses a 2.0-litre, turbocharged unit with 200bhp of peak power and 370Nm of torque. Whereas the diesel variant of the Mahindra Scorpio N SUV is available in two states of tune, where the base model pushes out 130bhp of peak power and 300Nm of peak torque, whereas the higher specification variants of the SUV puts out 172.5bhp of peak power and 40NNm of peak torque.
In terms of pricing, the new Mahindra Scorpio N SUV is priced from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and goes all the way up to Rs 21.65 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On top of that, the new SUV is available in Z2, Z4, Z6, Z8, and Z8L trim levels.
