Mahindra Bolero Safety Features Updated: Gets Dual Airbags As Standard: Here Are More Details
Mahindra Bolero becomes safer with the introduction of new features. This includes the now mandated dual front airbags, reverse parking camera and more. According to the safety rule, all cars registered in India must have a driver and a co-passenger airbag starting from January 1, 2022.
The silent update on the SUV provides a safe cabin for its occupants and makes it easier to park or navigate in tight spots. The list of safety equipment includes:
- Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
- Driver and Co-Driver Airbag
- Reverse Parking Sensors
- Seat Belt Reminder
- Co-driver Occupant Detection System
All these safety features are now added across all variants of the Mahindra Bolero. The SUV is available in three variants: B4, B6 and B6 (O) with prices starting at Rs 8.99 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
As mentioned earlier, the new updates are part of the mandated safety rules that came into effect on January 1, 2022. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) mandated the use of the above-mentioned safety features in passenger vehicles to reduce injuries during an accident.
Apart from the new safety features, the Bolero remains the same in terms of design, interiors and mechanicals. The workhorse is powered by the brand's mHawk75 1.5-litre turbo-diesel engine paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
This produces 74.96bhp at 3600rpm and 210Nm between 1600rpm and 2200rpm. The diesel engine also features a micro-hybrid technology that enables the auto-start-stop feature for enhanced fuel efficiency.
The Bolero features seven seats, air conditioning, central locking, keyless entry, a basic audio system, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The MID display on the cluster provides various information such as distance to empty, average fuel efficiency, gear indicator and more.
Mahindra Bolero Sales
Mahindra Bolero has remained the brand's best-selling model for years now. However, as the brand introduced newer models such as the new Thar and the XUV700, the workhorse SUV has taken a step back in sales figures in the last month.
The company sold over 3,506 units of the SUV in January 2022 as compared to the 7,567 units clocked in the same period in 2021. This results in annual degrowth of over 50%.
The company will be pushing facelifts and feature updates to the Bolero SUV over the next few years. However, the next-generation SUV is scheduled to release only by 2025 according to the plan announced by the company — here are all the details.
Thoughts About The Mahindra Bolero Getting Safer
The new safety rules mandated by the Government Of India has forced Mahindra to update the Bolero SUV with new features. The updated cabin becomes a lot safer for occupants in this workhorse SUV without any change in its pricing.
