Kia Carens Fuel Efficiency & Performance Figures Out: Naturally-Aspirated Petrol Engine Is The Thirstiest
The fuel efficiency and performance figures of the Kia Carens is out and the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel variant equipped with the 6-speed manual gearbox is the most fuel-efficient of the lot with a claimed ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 21.3km/l.

Whereas the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine equipped with the manual transmission is the thirstiest of the lot with an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of just 15.7km/l. The figures are surprising as both the manual and automatic variants of the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine returns 16.2km/l and 16.5km/l of mileage, respectively.

Moreover, the Kia Carens equipped with the 1.5-litre diesel engine and the 6-speed automatic transmission is the second-most fuel-efficient variant with an ARAI fuel efficiency figure of 18.4km/l. However, this variant is the least quickest of the bunch with an 0-100km/h time of just 13.4 seconds.

The quickest of the lot is the manual variant of the Kia Carens equipped with the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. This variant can reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 10 seconds, whereas the variant equipped with the 7-speed DCT gearbox is just 0.2 seconds slower at 10.2 seconds.

The 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol variant is next quickest and can reach 100km/h in just 11.5 seconds and the diesel variant equipped with manual transmission can do the same feat in an equally respectable 12.4 seconds.

Speaking about Kia, It is one of the fastest-growing automobile brands in India with successful product launches such as the Kia Seltos, Kia Sonet and Kia Carnival and the Kia Carens is the 4th model in the South Korean company's product portfolio.

According to Kia, the Kia Carens MPV will be soon launched in the Indian automotive market. That being said, Kia will be entering one of the most demanding automobile sectors in India where consumers demand space, luxury, features, affordable pricing and many more.

Apart from that, the Kia Carens will also feature 6 USB-C ports, so all the occupants can charge their digital devices at the same time.

In terms of safety, the Kia Carens comes with 6-airbags, electronic stability control, TPMS, hill assist control, hill descent control, and rear parking sensors as standard.

Specifications-wise, the Kia Carens equipped with the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine produces 113bhp, whereas the 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine produces 114bhp. However, the most powerful of the lot is the 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 138bhp.

When launched, the Kia Carens MPV will be positioned between the Kia Seltos and the Kia Carnival on the company's product line-up for India and will compete against the likes of vehicles such as Hyundai Alcazar, MG Hector Plus, Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700. Apart from these, the Kia Carens should also compete with the upcoming vehicles such as the next-gen Mahindra Scorpio and Toyota Rumion.
