Jeep’s New Creta Rival To Sport 1.2-Litre Petrol Engine From The Citroen C3 Hatchback
Jeep recently announced the details regarding the Jeep Avenger EV. Now, the company has revealed the powertrain details about the petrol-powered counterpart of the Jeep Avenger SUV that will soon go on sale in Europe.
The newly revealed Jeep Avenger SUV is part of the Stellantis group's plans to introduce 100 new vehicles by the end of 2030. It is worth mentioning that the newly introduced Jeep Avenger SUV is not a market-specific model but a global SUV.
Apart from that, the upcoming Jeep Avenger SUV is the smallest SUV in Jeep's product lineup and the bookings for the model has already commenced in Europe. In addition to that, if Jeep decides to sell the Avenger SUV in India, the model will directly compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos and more.
That being said, the Jeep Avenger SUV is available with both electric and ICE powertrain options. However, we are not sure if Jeep will be interested to launch the former in the Indian automobile market.
Speaking about the powertrain, the conventionally-powered variants of the Jeep Avenger SUV will use the same 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that powers the top-spec Citroen C3 hatchback in India.
This engine produces 108.4bhp of peak power at 5,500rpm and 190Nm of peak torque at 1,750rpm. However, the Citroen C3 hatchback sold in India comes solely with a 6-speed manual transmission. However, we expect the Jeep Avenger to sport both manual and automatic transmission options.
On top of that, the newly revealed Jeep Avenger also uses the same CMP architecture. That being said, the Jeep Avenger SUV comes equipped with Jeep's Selec-Terrain system with 5 drive modes - Eco, Normal, Mud, Sport, and Snow.
In comparison, the EV version of the Jeep Avenger produces a maximum of 154bhp of power and sports an eAWD setup. Moreover, the WLTP range is rated at 340 kilometres.
Thoughts About The New Jeep Avenger
With the launch of the Jeep Avenger, the Stellantis group is looking forward to increasing its global market share with an affordable SUV. Moreover, we expect the SUV to be a success if the automaker prices the model competitively.
