American SUV manufacturer Jeep has teased the arrival of the 5th-gen Grand Cherokee in India. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will launch in India in November.

The new teaser video teases the arrival in India of the 5th Generation Grand Cherokee, which was revealed to the world back over a year ago in September 2021. The teaser video shows various details about the upcoming Grand Cherokee, the second generation of the SUV to come to India, including its exterior design and interiors among others.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered with three powertrain options in its native United States. The least powerful of the three options on offer uses a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that is good for 290bhp and 348Nm of peak torque.

The newest powertrain and the rather weird one in the bunch is the new 4xe hybrid setup that uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and an electric motor to produce 375bhp and 637Nm of peak torque. The hybrid system allows for 40 kilometres of electric-only range.

The Grand Cherokee will come to India via the CKD route which will make it the fourth SUV in Jeep's global portfolio to be assembled in India after the Compass, Meridian and Wrangler. The Jeep Grand Cherokee will be assembled in the American marque's Ranjangaon facility, which will make India the only country outside North America to produce four Jeep nameplates.

The new Jeep Grand Cherokee (WL) brings quite a few cosmetic upgrades over its predecessor. These design changes come in the form of an updated design with sleeker headlights with LED DRLS flanking the new grille with Jeep's iconic 7-slat design and new LED taillights.

Inside the changes are even more significant, with a new driver's display and a portrait-oriented infotainment screen. Owners can also opt to add a large 10.25-inch for the front passenger to the dashboard. These display's run the latest UConnect 5 user interface and is said to be 5 times faster than before while also offering OTA updates and support for both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Other features onboard the upcoming Jeep Grand Cherokee for India include a full suite of Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), a full connectivity package with 24X7 dedicated assistance.

Thoughts About The New Jeep Grand Cherokee For India

The Jeep Grand Cherokee promises to continue living up to the legacy of all the previous models that bore that nameplate. While the 4xe powertrain seems quite intriguing, we expect Jeep to bring either the Pentastar V6 or the Hemi V8 version of the Grand Cherokee to India when the SUV arrives next month.
