Jeep Compass Trailhawk Proves Its Mettle: Becomes The First SUV To Cross The Great Indian Desert
The recently launched Jeep Compass Trailhawk becomes the first SUV in India to cross the Great Indian Desert. The 1200km journey was completed in 72 hours after spending time with harsh off-road and climatic conditions.

The gruesome journey consisting of rocky cliffs, sand dunes and unpaved roads started from Sri Ganganagar in Rajasthan and was completed in Kutch, Gujarat. During this journey, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk was piloted by the Prince of Alsisar, Mr Abhimanyu Alsisar.

Speaking about the achievement, Mr Nipun J Mahajan, Head of Jeep Brand India, said, "The Jeep Compass Trailhawk epitomises the Jeep brand's core DNA: an insatiable thirst to explore and go on exhilarating adventures and in this case, the SUV did not traverse tarmac even once. With the challenges we placed before the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, it proved and established itself as a bonafide off-road SUV. The Jeep Compass Trailhawk's features and capabilities will certainly make it the most preferred SUV for off-roading aficionados and adventure seekers."

Speaking about the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, the 5-seater SUV is a more off-road focused version of the standard Jeep Compass.

In terms of design, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk looks a bit more off-road friendly with its chunky silver-coloured bash plate, a new 7-slat grille, a new front bumper with black accents, two tow hooks and a few more.

Other changes include new sleeker-looking LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, anti-glare graphics on the bonnet, a black roof, redesigned rear bumper, new alloy wheels and black cladding all around.

Moving inside, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk feels very familiar as the interior is very much identical to the facelifted version of the Jeep Compass. However, the interior of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk comes with an all-black interior with contrasting red stitches on the seats, dashboard and door trims.

As the interior of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is based on the top-spec ‘S' trim of the Jeep Compass, the SUV gets features such as a large 10.25 inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, an equally large fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, Uconnect 5 connected car tech, dual-zone climate control, parking sensors, ventilated front seats, wireless charging pad and many more.

The Jeep Compass Trailhawk continues to use the powertrain from the standard Jeep Compass. This means the 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine produces 170bhp of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox as standard.

In addition to that, the power is channelled to all-four wheels via Jeep's SelecTerrain four-wheel-drive system. To aid off-road ability, the system also comes with an additional ‘Rock' mode.

Thoughts About Jeep Compass Trailhawk
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk is priced at Rs 30.72 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which is around Rs 1.38 lakh more than the top-spec ‘S' trim equipped with a diesel engine and four-wheel-drive system.
This means the Jeep Compass Trailhawk makes a lot more sense given its ability to tackle rougher terrain.
