Jeep Compass To Become Costlier From March 31: Trailhawk Also Likely To Be Affected
Jeep is gearing up to hike the prices of the Jeep Compass SUV in India from March 31, 2022. According to sources, the new revised prices will be revealed after unveiling the Jeep Merdian SUV in India.
Apart from that, the upcoming price hike could also affect the prices of the newly launched Jeep Compass Trailhawk. This new model was recently introduced in India and it is the more off-road focussed variant of the standard Jeep Compass.
At present, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant is priced at Rs 30.72 lakh (ex-showroom, India), and in terms of design, the Jeep Compass Trailhawk does look a bit more off-road friendly with its silver-coloured bash plate, a new 7-slat front grille, a new front bumper with sporty black accents, two red tow hooks and a few more.
Other changes on the new Jeep Compass Trailhawk includes a pair of new sleeker-looking LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, a set of new alloy wheels, anti-glare graphics on the bonnet, a black roof, redesigned rear bumper and black cladding all around.
Moving inside the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, everything feels very familiar as the interior is very much identical to the facelifted version of the Jeep Compass. However, the interior of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk sports an all-black interior with contrasting red stitches on the seats, door trims and dashboard.
The Jeep Compass Trailhawk continues to use the tried-and-tested powertrain from the standard Jeep Compass sold in India. This means the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is powered by a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine with 170bhp of peak power and 350Nm of peak torque.
Apart from being a potent engine unit, the gearbox is mated to a very efficient 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as standard.
Since the Jeep Compass Trailhawk is a more off-road friendly variant of the Jeep Compass, the power produced is channelled to all-four wheels via Jeep's SelecTerrain four-wheel-drive system.
To further improve the off-road ability of the Jeep Compass Trailhawk, the system also comes with an additional ‘Rock' mode.
Speaking about the Jeep Meridian, the SUV is the 7-seater version of the Jeep Compass SUV. Apart from that, the Jeep Meridian has been under development for almost 2 years now and it recently made global debut in the South American market as ‘Jeep Commander'.
We expect the upcoming Jeep Meridian to be powered by a 2.0-litre, turbocharged, 4-cylinder diesel engine with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. Thanks to the electric assistance, this engine is expected to produce around 200bhp of peak power and 400Nm of peak torque.
We expect Jeep to price the Jeep Meridian anywhere between Rs 33 lakh to Rs 36 lakh.
Thoughts About Jeep In India
Jeep has become a very successful brand in India and the launch of the 7-seater Jeep Meridian SUV will play a crucial role in Jeep's future in India. However, the upcoming price hike may slightly affect sales performance for a few months.
