Now, Hyundai is finally gearing up to launch the next-generation Hyundai Verna sedan in India, and the model has also been spied a few times now in the country. This new Hyundai Verna sedan is likely to sport the South Korean automaker's new design language. In addition to that, we also expect a total makeover of the interior layout with a large infotainment unit and digital instrument cluster.

Though the outgoing variant of the Hyundai Verna sedan is very well equipped with features such as full LED headlights, connected car tech, smart boot lid, wireless smartphone charger, electric sunroof, Arkamys Premium sound system, 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, rear AC vents, ventilated seats, electrically adjustable ORVMs, cooled glovebox and many more, the entire interior layout is somewhat outdated.

In addition to this long feature list, the South Korean sedan also comes packed with good safety features such as 6-airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS with EBD, reversing camera with adaptive guidelines, Impact sensing auto door unlock, ISOFIX anchoring points, cornering headlamps, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), and many more.

As such, the next-generation Hyundai Verna is likely to sport even more features and it is been said that the model may even get ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) on top-spec variants. With ADAS, the upcoming new Hyundai Verna will have a long list of active safety features such as Auto Emergency Braking (AEB), blind-spot monitoring system, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, and many more.

In addition to these, we also expect the upcoming Hyundai Verna sedan to sport a roomier interior with better space for second-row passengers.

However, despite these many changes, the upcoming new Hyundai Verna sedan is likely to sport the powertrains from the outgoing model. This means the upcoming Hyundai Verna sedan will feature three engine options.

The base powertrain will be the tried-and-tested, 1.5-litre, naturally-aspirated petrol engine with 113.18bhp of peak power and 143.8Nm of peak torque. This powertrain can either be specified with a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT unit. The next engine option is a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 118bhp of peak power and 172Nm of peak torque. However, this unit comes exclusively mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Finally, the popular 1.5-litre, turbocharged diesel engine. This powertrain produces 114bhp of peak power and 250Nm of peak torque. Moreover, gearbox options include a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic unit.

We expect, Hyundai to price the next-generation Verna sedan competitively with a starting price of around Rs 10 lakh mark, ex-showroom.

Though the upcoming Hyundai Verna might not challenge the sales figures achieved by the likes of the Hyundai Creta SUV or Hyundai Venue SUV, we expect the model to quickly gain traction in the Indian market and produce consistent sales figures for the company.
