Honda To Upgrade Dealerships In India With Premium Look & Feel: Rs 260 Crore Investment Planned
Honda Cars India is all set to revamp its dealership network across India. The Indian subsidiary of the Japanese car manufacturer will invest around Rs 260 crore in collaboration with its dealer partners, to upgrade its dealerships. The new dealerships will offer a more premium feel while also making way for the new Honda SUVs set to go on sale next year.
Honda Cars India has long been considered one of the best mainstream car manufacturers in the country. Founded in 1995, Honda has already seen over 27 years of operations in India. With cars like the City, Accord, Jazz, CR-V, Brio, BR-V, Mobilio, and WR-V, Honda Cars India brought forth its best for each segment.
While the cars sold by Honda received timely upgrades and generational changes, Honda's dealerships have more or less remained the same. Honda's dealerships are functional and practical. These dealerships looked very premium back in the day, however, they no longer hold the same premium feel in 2022. The competition has arrived with dealerships that look and feel better.
Honda Cars India is now working towards upgrading its dealerships across India. Yet another reason to upgrade these dealerships is the arrival of Honda's SUVs in 2023. The plan to upgrade the dealerships was first put forward in 2019. However, it was pushed back due to the arrival of the pandemic in 2020.
A total investment of Rs 260 crore is to be made in the upgradation of Honda's dealerships. This is in collaboration with Honda's dealer partners. Of the Rs 260 crore, Rs 100 crore has already been invested to revamp 100 dealerships in major cities and towns. Honda has over 350 dealerships across India.
As a part of the upgrade, Honda's service centres too would get modernised. A digital workshop management system will be integrated into these renovated dealerships. Kunal Behl, Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Honda Cars India was quoted as saying, "The customer behaviour is fast evolving and it is our continuous endeavour to provide them the right buying environment and ambiance at our dealership."
Thoughts On Honda Investing Rs 260 Crore On Upgrading Dealerships In India
India is one of the most important automotive markets in the world and all manufacturers in India recognise this fact. It is easy business for Honda to continue with its existing dealership facilities. However, Honda has chosen to upgrade its dealerships to keep up with its products and that is a step in the right direction.
