Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster Revealed - The Fastest Convertible Ever?

The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster is the drop-top variant of the Venom F5, one of the contenders in the latest race to hit a top speed in excess of 300 miles/hour. Hennessey claims that the new roadster is nearly mechanically identical to the coupe version of the Venom F5.

Speaking about the new Venom F5 Roadster, John Hennessey, Founder and CEO of Hennessey Performance stated, "We created the Venom F5 to be the ultimate expression of a hypercar. The Roadster version takes the Coupe's speed, exhilaration, and awe, plus a sprinkling of respect-inducing fear, to a new, truly visceral level that brings owners closer to the Venom F5's extreme performance. Our 1,817 bhp ‘Fury' engine screams behind the exposed cockpit, with its roar unobstructed by a roof - it is an unmatched automotive experience."

The Hennessey Venom F5 Roadster like its coupe sibling draws power from the Texas-based marque's 6.6-litre twin turbocharged 90-degree V8 engine dubbed 'Fury'. The Fury pushes 1,817bhp at 8,00rpm and 1,617Nm of peak torque at 5,000rpm and can rev up to 8,500rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed CIMA single clutch automated manual gearbox.

To halt the Venom F5 in its tracks, Hennessey has fitted the hypercar with 390mm carbon ceramic disc brakes all around. The front brakes feature 6-piston callipers while the rear units feature 4-piston callipers.

The Venom F5 Roadster rides on 19-inch wheels at the front that are shod with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres measuring 265/35 ZR19. The rear wheels are shod with the same type of Michelin tyres that measure 345/30 ZR20.

Unlike the coupe, the new Venom F5 Roadster features a removable roof panel that has been crafted from rigid carbon fiber composites. Hennessey claims that the single piece roof panel is fully insulated and comes line with soft Alcantara upholstery. The roof panel which weighs just 8 kilos, is secured with four quick-release bolts and a pair of high-strength latches to withstand the hypercar's staggering acceleration capabilities and aerodynamic forces at extreme speed.

Hennessey offers customers two storage choices for the roof panel. These choices are either a bespoke Merino wool travel bag or as a standalone work-of-art on a custom-made, sculptural pedestal designed by Hennessy's in-house design team.

Hennessey will make 30 examples of the Venom F5 Roadster, with each commanding a price tag of $3 million. Each example of the Venom F5 Roadster will be personally customized to its owner's specification which should ensure that no two examples of this hyper roadster will ever be the same.
