EKA E9 Electric Bus Revealed With 2,500Nm Of Torque
Pune based commercial electric vehicle manufacturer EKA has revealed the E9 electric bus. The 9-meter long EKA E9 electric bus was revealed at the Pune Alternate Fuel Conclave.

The 9-meter long EKA E9 electric bus was revealed by Aaditya Thackeray, Hon'ble Minister of Tourism, Environment & Protocol, Govt of Maharashtra, and Dr. Sudhir Mehta, Chairman, EKA & Pinnacle Industries Limited.
Speaking at the unveiling of the EKA E9, Sudhir Mehta, Chairman, EKA & Pinnacle Industries Limited, stated, "Electrification of commercial vehicles, public transport, especially the bus sector, is key to India's decarbonization strategy. Today, we are excited to launch our first electric bus EKA E9, to empower cities to achieve their zero-emissions targets. Our buses are designed & optimized to provide the best ride experience, cleaner environment, and best returns to the customers. With the new EKA E9, we offer a global platform for clean, efficient, and profitable public transport to meet the rising demand on important markets that are ready for the shift to electromobility."
EKA is an electronic vehicle manufacturing and technology subsidiary of Pinnacle Industries. EKA is one of the only commercial vehicle manufacturers approved under the Champion OEM Scheme & EV component manufacturing scheme of the Government of India's Auto PLI policy.
The EKA E9 is a 9-metre long electric bus that features a monocoque chassis made from stainless steel. The E9 electric bus features a new vehicle design and features a composite structure and a large glasshouse.
The EKA E9 is powered by a single electric motor which the company claims produces 268bhp (200kW) and 2,500Nm of peak torque. The EKA E9 features an in-house designed vehicle control unit software.
Other features on the EKA E9 include front and rear disc brakes, air suspension and a host of safety features including 4 Cameras, Emergency stop button, Fire extinguisher and Automatic Driver assistance system (ADAS) among others.
The 2,500mm width of the EKA E9 offers ample seating and standing space for passengers. The EKA E9 offers wheelchair ramps to offer better access to disabled passengers. The EKA E9 also features a low floor which sits just 650mm above the ground.
The EKA E9 also provides a host of features for the driver. These features include a power assisted steering with tilt and telescopic adjustment, all-in-one central console and driver assistance systems.
The E9 is just the start of EKA's plans. The company plans to design, manufacture, and supply a complete range of Electric Vehicles, Fuel Cell Electric vehicles, and alternative fuel vehicles in the near future. The brand will also house components assembly and manufacturing, EV traction systems, EV energy storage systems, etc., going forward.
