Upcoming Citroen C3 EV Name Revealed – Launch Soon
The French car manufacturer, Citroen has revealed the name of its upcoming C3 EV in its latest teaser shared across various social media platforms.
According to the latest teaser image, the electric version of the Citroen C3 hatchback is to be christened 'eC3'. Moreover, we expect Citroen to launch the eC3 at the Auto Expo 2023.
However, there is also a chance that the Citroen eC3 electric hatchback could just be revealed by the automaker at the Auto Expo 2023 with minimum details and the launch may happen a month after that. That being said, the exact launch date of the upcoming Citroen eC3 electric hatchback is yet to be revealed by the French car manufacturer.
Diving into details of the upcoming Citroen eC3, the electric hatchback will become the first all-electric model from the French car maker for the Indian automobile market. Furthermore, the upcoming Citroen eC3 is built on the same Common Modular Platform (CMP) as the standard Citroen C3 hatchback.
Earlier, Mr Carlos Tavares, the global CEO of Stellantis Group, had confirmed that the upcoming Citroen eC3 electric hatchback will come equipped with a decent-sized 30.2kWh battery pack. On top of that, he also mentioned that the battery unit powering the Citroen eC3 to pack LFP cells sourced from a Chinese firm by the name 'Svolt'.
However, Mr Tavares is quick to mention that he is looking forward to buying batteries from an Indian supplier. On top of that, he also mentioned that he is confident that the Indian-made batteries will be equipped in the Citroen eC3 electric hatchback within the next few years.
Along with these details, Mr Tavares added that the upcoming Citroen eC3 electric vehicle will be equipped with a 'CCS2' type fast charger and a 3.3kW onboard AC charger. In addition to that, the upcoming Citroen eC3 electric hatchback is powered by an 84.5bhp (63kW) electric motor with 143Nm of peak torque. In comparison, its nearest competitor, the Tata Tiago EV is powered by a slightly less powerful 74bhp electric motor with 114Nm of peak torque.
Since Citroen has been working to further optimise the cost of the eC3 electric hatchback by sharing as many parts with the conventional petrol-powered Citroen C3 hatchback, most of the exterior, interior and mechanicals of the Citroen eC3 electric hatchback will be almost identical to its petrol-powered counterpart.
