Citroen C3 Delivery Commences In India
Citroen has commenced the deliveries of its recently launched C3 model through its dealerships in India. Additionally, the Citroen C3 is available in two trim levels - Live, and Feel.
Though there are only two trim levels, the Citroen C3 SUV can be customised with packages such as Vibe pack, Dual tone, and Dual tone vibe pack. Moreover, prices for the Citroen C3 ranges between Rs 5.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India) to Rs 8.05 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Despite having an SUV-ish silhouette, Citroen claims that the C3 is a hatchback and as a result, it directly competes with other models such as Maruti Suzuki Wagon R, Tata Tiago, Hyundai Grand i10 NIOS and more.
However, thanks to its SUV-ish stance, the Citroen C3 is a worthy alternative to models such as Tata Punch, Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger in the Indian automobile market. This means the French automaker is knowingly or unknowingly taking on two segments with just one product.
On top of that, the French automaker already has high hopes for the C3 in the Indian automobile market.
Speaking about the Citroen C3, the french model is built on Citroen's Common Modular Platform (CMP) to keep the overall production costs low in order to make the C3 more affordable in the highly price-sensitive Indian automobile market.
Thanks to its unique positioning, the Citroen C3 does stand out from the crowd and the quirky styling also helps. Also, the SUV-like stance adds to the overall appeal of the Citroen C3.
In terms of features, the Citroen C3 sports a large 10-inch Citroen Connect touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, wireless smartphone connectivity, one-touch down windows, digital instrument cluster, flat-folding rear seat, climate control, and much more.
Though decently equipped, features such as electrically adjustable mirrors are not present even on the top-end variant of the Citroen C3. This can be considered as an advantage as electrical mirrors are a bit costly to replace if damaged.
However, Citroen has not skimmed any safety features and the vehicle is packed with life-saving features such as Driver & Passenger airbags, reverse parking sensors, rear doors child lock, engine immobiliser, speed-sensitive door lock, ABS with EBD and much more.
In terms of powertrain options, the Citroen C3 is available with two engine options. The standard engine option is a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder PURETECH 82 engine. This engine puts out a respectable 80.8bhp of peak power and 115Nm of peak torque. Moreover, this power unit comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The top-end model uses a similar engine, but with a turbocharger. This engine is named PURETECH 110 and pushes out 108.4bhp of peak power and 190Nm of peak torque. This engine also gets an extra cog as it is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Citroen C3
As the deliveries of the Citroen C3 have begun in India, we expect the French automaker to become more popular in India. However, to truly capture the Indian market, Citroen has to increase the touchpoints in India by rapidly increasing the number of dealerships.
