Citroen C3 Arrives At Dealerships - Launch Soon
Though Citroen has finally revealed the much-awaited Citroen C3 SUV in India, the French automaker is yet to reveal the prices for this model and the company already has high hopes despite strong competition in the Indian automobile market.
Ahead of its launch, the Citroen C3 model has started reaching dealerships across the country. According to Citroen, the prices for the C3 will be revealed on July 20.
With the launch of Citroen C3, the French automaker is planning to not only take on one of the most competitive yet lucrative segments in the Indian automobile market (sub-4m SUV segment), but it seems that the company is also planning to attract hatchback buyers as well.
Though the sub-4m SUV market is currently dominated by the Tata Nexon, both the Hyundai Venue and the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza are not that far away from the segment leader in terms of sales figures.
Apart from these, the upcoming Citroen C3 must also compete with other sub-4m SUVs such as the Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Honda WR-V and Mahindra XUV300.
Out of all these SUVs, the Tata Punch is the closest rival to the Citroen C3 and the former is positioned as a micro-SUV. In addition to that, the Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger are also priced very close to the micro-SUV category.
Speaking about the Citroen C3, the French automaker's upcoming model is built on Citroen's Common Modular Platform (CMP) to keep the overall production costs low in order to make the SUV more affordable in the highly price-sensitive Indian automobile market.
As expected the Citroen C3 will come with a wide variety of customisation options with 78 different accessories to choose from. This customisation program is very important as the compact SUV segment in India is very competitive and offering something unique is of utmost importance to stand out of the current crop of SUVs and feature-rich premium hatchbacks.
In terms of features, the upcoming Citroen C3 SUV will sport a large 10-inch Citroen Connect touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, Wireless Smartphone Connectivity, One-Touch Down Windows, Digital Instrument Cluster, Fold-Flat Rear Seat, and much more.
Safety features include Driver & Passenger Airbags, Reverse Parking Sensors, Rear Doors Child Lock, Engine Immobiliser, Speed-Sensitive Door Lock, ABS, EBD and much more.
As per the revealed details, the Citroen C3 is available with two engine options. The base variant is powered by a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated, three-cylinder PURETECH 82 engine. This engine puts out 80.8bhp of power and 115Nm of torque. Moreover, this power unit comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox.
The next power unit uses the same engine with a turbocharger. This engine is named PURETECH 110 and pushes out 108.4bhp of power and 190Nm of peak torque. This engine also gets an extra cog as it is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
At present, Citroen retails the Citroen C5 Aircross SUV in the country and the SUV competes against the likes of other premium 5-seater SUVs such as the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Volkswagen Tiguan.
Thoughts About The Upcoming Citroen C3 SUV
Citroen has high hopes for the Citroen C3 SUV in India as the SUV competes in one of the most lucrative segments in India. However, the success of the SUV will depend on the pricing.
