BYD Atto 3 Electric SUV Launched At Rs 33.99 Lakhs - 521km Range

Chinese EV firm BYD (Build Your Dreams) has launched the Atto 3 E-SUV in India. The BYD Atto 3 electric SUV is priced at Rs 33.99 Lakh (ex-showroom).

The Atto 3 is the second offering from BYD for the Indian market after the e6 MPV. The BYD Atto 3 is offered in four colourways: Boulder Grey, Parkour Red, Ski White, and Surf Blue.

BYD Atto 3 Battery Pack, Charging Time & Motor Specs

The BYD Atto3 is powered by the Chinese firm's Blade battery technology which offers an ARAI range of 521km on the ARAI testing cycle. BYD's Blade battery packs use LFP chemistry and the one fitted to the new Atto 3 for India has a capacity of 60.48kWh.

BYD claims that the Atto 3's 60.48kWh Blade battery pack will charge up from 0 to 80 per cent in just 50 minutes when plugged into a fast 80kW DC charger. Charging time when plugged in at home to an AC charger is around 9.5 to 10 hours. The Atto 3's battery pack also supports Vehicle to Load (VTOL) which means you can use it to keep your appliances powered up.

The BYD Atto 3's Blade battery pack is connected to a single electric motor that powers the front wheels. The electric motor produces 201bhp and 310Nm of peak torque which allows the Atto 3 to accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.3 seconds.

The BYD Atto 3 is 4,455mm long, 1,875mm wide and 1,615mm tall. The wheelbase of the Atto 3 is 2,720mm long and the electric SUV offers a ground clearance of 175mm. The BYD Atto 3 weighs 1,750 kilogrammes and offers a boot space of 440 litres which can be expanded to 1,340 litres by folding down the rear seats.

BYD Atto 3 Design & Features

The BYD Atto 3 features a rather aerodynamic shape despite its obvious crossover SUV looks. BYD claims that the Atto 3 has a coefficient of drag of just 0.29 cd.

The BYD Atto 3's exterior design is highlighted by the wraparound LED headlights with integrated LED DRLs that are connected together by a thick bar of chrome with the BYD name embossed into it.

The BYD Atto 3 rides on a set of rather snazzy 18-inch alloy wheels and the electric SUV also features an integrated roof spoiler element. The one-piece taillights stretch across the rear section of the the BYD Atto3 and are full LED units.

The interior of the Atto 3 is a mix of greys and blues with a few red highlights. The quirky dumbbell-shaped AC vents and the grip style door handles add a touch of style to the rather sporty interior which is dominated by the 12.8-inch rotating infotainment screen.

The Atto 3 also packs a digital driver's display, a massive panoramic sunroof, mobile phone wireless charging, a one-touch electric control tailgate, an 8-speaker audio system, electric seat adjustment, voice control, ambient lighting that responds to music, a PM 2.5 air filter and a CN95 air filter among others.

The BYD Atto 3 also comes packed with safety and Driver assistance features like multiple airbags, 360 degree camera, ESP, Traction control, Hill Descent Control, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Departure Warning and Lane Keeping Assist among others.

Thoughts About The BYD Atto 3

THe BYD Atto3 comes packed with a host of features and an impressive range of over 500 kilometres. However, the near Rs 10 lakh premium over rivals like the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV isn't one many customers will want to take especially with a brand that isn't really well known in India.
