Bentley Teases New Model Ahead Of May 10 Debut

English luxury carmaker Bentley has teased the arrival of the 5th member of its car lineup. The new Bentley model will be unveiled on the 10th of May, 2022.

The teaser image which is bathed in a rather dark purple hue looks to show off a section of the upcoming vehicle's interior. The accompanying teaser video reveals this to be a section of the door of the new Bentley.

In a press release, Bentley commented about the upcoming vehicle stating, "Bentley will announce a fifth model to join its portfolio of luxury cars at 12:30 BST on Tuesday 10th May. The company's designers, engineers and craftspeople have gone to new lengths to combine luxury, technology and performance in a way that only Bentley can deliver. With an extra dimension of on-board wellness, the new model will sit in sumptuous comfort at the pinnacle of its range and deliver a breadth of capabilities beyond anything previously offered."

The statement from Bentley's press release states that the new model will sit atop the carmaker's current lineup which is currently headlined by the Bentayga SUV. With the stress on words like lengths, extra dimension and long awaited, some may infer that the new Bentley model could very well be an extended wheelbase version of the Bentayga.

In fact reports emerging from the United Kingdom do suggest that this could very well be the case. There have been murmurs of a stretched Bentayga doing the rounds in the automotive community and an extended version of the British luxury SUV has been spotted multiple times undergoing testing around the world.

If the new Bentley model is indeed an extended wheelbase version of the English marque's Bentayga SUV, then we should expect it to arrive on the road with multiple powertrain options. The current Bentayga offers one hybrid and two pure petrol powertrain options under its capacious bonnet.

The base petrol is a 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 rated for 542bhp and 772Nm of peak torque. The second petrol option uses a 6.0-litre twin-turbocharged W12 that cranks out 626bhp and 900Nm of peak torque. The hybrid Bentayga uses a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and a single electric motor that together push out 443bhp and 700Nm of peak torque. All three Bentley Bentayga powertrains make use of an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.
