4th Generation Suzuki Swift - Expected Powertrain, Features, & More
The 4th generation Suzuki Swift hatchback has been spotted testing quite a few times now and numerous pictures of the upcoming hatchback are circulating on the internet. That being said, we expect the next-generation Suzuki Swift hatchback to make its global debut before the end of next year.

Speaking about the Maruti Suzuki Swift, the 1st generation of the hatchback made its debut back in 2005 in India. 6 years later, Maruti Suzuki launched the 2nd generation Swift hatchback in the country and this model was sold in the country for 7 years until Maruti Suzuki launched the 3rd generation Swift hatchback in early 2018.

Now, just 4 years after the introduction of the 3rd generation Maruti Suzuki Swift hatchback, the 4th generation model is already being tested extensively in Europe. As such, we expect this model to make its Indian debut somewhere in 2024.

Design
Analysing the spied images of the upcoming 4th generation Suzuki Swift, the model seems to sport an evolutionary design language under the heavy camouflage stickers. Noticeable changes include pulled-back headlamps with LED DRLs, a stronger shoulder line that neatly merges with the tail lamp, a new SUV-like clamshell bonnet, a large front grille, large outside rear-view mirrors, lower and wider air intakes, more pronounced wheel arches, larger alloy wheels and a large roof-mounted spoiler. It is also worth mentioning that the rear of the next-generation Swift seems to resemble a lot like the first-generation Suzuki Swift.

In addition to that, the wheelbase of the 4th generation Swift seems to have been slightly stretched to improve the interior space and high-speed stability. Moreover, the model also looks slightly wider and a tad bit lower as well. All these traits lend the upcoming next-generation Suzuki Swift a more mature stance.
Speaking about mature design traits, the upcoming 4th generation Swift seems to sport a more conventional type of door handles on the rear door. This eliminates the boyish character of the hatchback and gives the hatchback a more upmarket appearance.

Features
In terms of features, we expect the upcoming 4th generation Suzuki Swift to come packed with a long list of features and advanced safety systems as the hatchback will be based on an advanced version of Suzuki's Heartect platform with more emphasis on safety.

As such, we expect the feature list on the 4th generation Suzuki Swift hatchback to mimic the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Baleno hatchback and Grand Vitara SUV with features such as a 360-degree surround-view camera, heads-up display, rear AC vents, 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a few more as well.

Engine
While the Suzuki Swift in International markets is available with a choice of two engines, the 3rd generation Maruti Suzuki Swift sold in India comes with just one engine option. This powertrain is a 1.2-litre, naturally-aspirated engine with 89bhp of power and 113Nm of peak torque. Also, this engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

While this engine is also available on the international markets, Suzuki also offers a more powerful 1.0-litre turbocharged engine with 110bhp of power and 160Nm of torque. However, we expect the 4th generation of the hatchback to be offered with the tried-and-tested, 1.2-litre powertrain to keep the production cost low.
It is also worth mentioning that, the Suzuki Swift Sport which is available in international markets comes with a more powerful 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 128bhp of peak power and 230Nm of torque.

Thoughts About The Upcoming 4th Generation Suzuki Swift
Given the highly competitive hatchback segment in India, we expect the fourth-generation Swift to be launched by the end of 2024 in the Indian market following the international debut of the model.
