The new GranTurismo will offer both internal combustion and EV powertrains. The internal combustion variants will be powered by Maserati's Nettuno 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged V6 engine first seen on the MC20 supercar. This V6 powered version of the Maserati GranTurismo will be offered in two guises - Modena and Trofeo - with the former being shown in the latest set of images from Italian firm.

The new Maserati GranTurismo is the latest iteration of the Italian luxury marque's two-seater grand tourer. The new GranTurismo retains quite a few details from the previous version of the car designed by Pininfarina and released in 2007. Maserati, though has tweaked that iconic design by bringing in quite a few details from the MC20 sports car.

The Maserati GranTurismo's vertical headlights evoke the look of the MC20. The combustion engine version of the GranTurismo sports large air intakes to feed the fruity twin-turbo V6 engine which is expected to match the 621bhp output of the MC20 in its most potent form.

Also seen at the front of the Maserati GranTurismo are the iconic Trident logo on the grille of the Modena-based luxury carmaker. The long bonnet and trio of vents on sides and the overall shape all evoke memories of the previous V8-powered version of the GranTurismo that was discontinued in 2019. The rear section of the V6 powered GranTurismo also features a redesigned rear bumper that allows the quad exhaust tailpipes to vent the Nettuno's dino-fueled fury at the world.

However, the V6 powered GranTurismo will not be the ultimate version of the Italian super grand tourer. That honor instead will go to the electric version of the GranTurismo dubbed the Folgore (Italian for lightning). The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will sport a triple motor setup producing around 1,200bhp.

In a recent video, Maserati revealed a few stats about the upcoming electric GranTurismo including the fact that it would sprint from 0-100km/h in just 2.7 seconds. The Maserati GranTurismo Folgore will sport a top speed in excess of 200miles/hour (321.8km/h).

The upcoming GranTurismo and Grecale SUVs will be the first vehicles in Maserati's lineup to feature electric variants. Electric versions of the rest of the vehicles in Maserati's lineup including the GranCabrio, Quattroporte, Ghibli and the MC20 sports car will all arrive by the year 2025 as the Modena-based luxury carmaker looks to ditch ICE vehicles by that very year.

The all-new Maserati GranTurismo retains the charms of the previous generation of the grand tourer but adds a few design tweaks from the MC20 supercar to give it a rather unique look.
