2023 Honda Accord Debuts With Hybrid Powertrain
Though SUVs sales figures are munching their way through segments once dominated by sedans, it does not restrict Honda from making the 11th generation Honda Accord sedan. That being said, Honda has high hopes for the Accord, especially in the US market.

Diving into details about the new Honda Accord, the model looks very similar to the latest Honda Civic with its long bonnet and sloping roofline. Other exterior details include a hexagonal grille flanked by sleek-looking LED headlights, long wheelbase and sleek LED taillamps.

On the inside, the interior of the 2023 Honda Accord could be easily mistaken for the latest generation of Honda Civic. However, a side-by-side look reveals that the interior of the 2023 Honda Accord looks a bit more premium and sports a large 12.3-inch infotainment unit.

Coming to the powertrain, the 2023 Honda Accord sedan is offered with two engine options. Though the base 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged engine has been carried over from the outgoing model (International markets), Honda has upgraded the engine with a new direct-injection system, a new catalyst, a stiffer crankshaft and a new oil pan for better smoothness and emissions.
This engine now puts out a respectable 192bhp of peak power and 370Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the sole gearbox option with this power unit is now a reliable CVT gearbox.

Also, Honda has now replaced the more powerful 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson cycle engine. Though this engine makes less power than the turbocharged 2.0-litre model at just 204bhp of peak power and 334Nm of peak torque, we expect this powertrain to deliver outstanding fuel efficiency figures.

Coming to India, Honda once used to be a dominant player in the Indian automobile sector. Now, the company is fighting for scraps left by other manufacturers. This situation could be vaguely pointed at the lack of a solid SUV lineup in the company's product portfolio.

While Honda once dominated the respective segments with the likes of sedans such Honda Civic and Honda Accord sedans, these names have now been reduced to distant memories. Moreover, the last Honda Accord was launched way back in 2016 and it was brought to India as a CBU with an exorbitant price tag that put it in contention with the likes of the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

In fact, the 9th generation Honda Accord was Rs 6 lakh more expensive than the locally-assembled Toyota Camry hybrid sold in India. Now, the 11th generation Honda Accord sedan has made its debut and we hope that the Japanese automaker launches this model in India to improve the brand perception in the country.

Thoughts About The 2023 Honda Accord
The 2023 Honda Accord features a very understated exterior design and a very desirable interior. Moreover, the model comes with a very good hybrid setup that is capable of delivering high fuel efficiency figures. However, we don't think Honda will be keen on launching this model in India.
