2022 Honda WR-V Revealed - Looks Like A Proper SUV Now

One look at the all-new Honda WR-V SUV and the resemblance between the two SUVS is very evident thanks to the coupe-SUV-like design of the new production car. At the front, the sleek angular headlights with LED DRLs flank either side of the rather shiny grille.

The sides of the new WR-V SUV feature plastic cladding around the wheelarches which play host to either 16 (E) or 17-inch (RS variant) wheels. The Honda WR-V's rear section features a very steeply raked rear windscreen along with a roof spoiler element. Also seen are horizontal LED taillamps and a chunky rear bumper that also hosts the rear registration plate.

Step inside the new WR-V and you'll be greeted by an all-black interior with red contrast elements present on the dash, steering wheel and seats. Other than that, the WR-V interiors are quite familiar with a semi-digital instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment display that look to have been pulled directly from other cars in their lineup.

The all-new WR-V is based on the same platform that underpins the current Amaze hatchback and the previous generation of the City sedan. The new WR-V from Honda is 4,060mm long, 1,608mm high and 1,780mm wide and sports a 2,485mm long wheelbase. The new WR-V also offers a rather surprising 220mm of ground clearance and the boot of the new Honda SUV can hold 380 litres of luggage.

The Honda WR-V for Indonesia is powered by the same naturally aspirated 1.5-litre petrol engine you find on the City sedan sold in India. In the 2nd-gen WR-V SUV, the 1.5-litre Honda engine produces 119bhp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of peak torque at 4,300rpm. The engine is paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic.

The all-new Honda WR-V comes packed with safety features and driving aids from the Honda Sensing safety suite. These features include 6 airbags, and features like Collision Mitigation Braking System, Lane Keeping Assist, Road Departure Mitigation, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lead Car Departure Notification and Auto High Beam.

Honda is said to be currently working on an SUV for the Indian market that will take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and the Toyota Hyryder which is said to be based on the current 5th gen City's platform rather than the previous model's that can be found under the body of the new WR-V. What this means for the SUV for the Indian market is still not known but Honda could take quite a few design cues from its new SUV for the Indonesian market.

Thoughts About The New Honda WR-V

The all-new second-gen Honda WR-V looks more like a proper SUV than its predecessor ever did. While we don't expect this specific SUV to come here, Honda's upcoming India-spec SUV could feature quite a few design cues from the new WR-V.
