Kolkata Police Adds 17 More Tata Nexon EVs To Its Lineup - Fleet Now Numbers 243
The Kolkata Police recently added 17 new Tata Nexon EVs on the occasion of World Environment Day. The addition of the 17 new Tata Nexon EVs takes the total number of the electric Nexons in the Kolkata Police fleet to 243.

The new Tata Nexon EVs were inducted into the Kolkata Police lineup at a special event organised at the Police Athletic club in the capital city of West Bengal. The new Tata Nexon EVs inducted into the Kolkata Police lineup are all finished in white but feature a few unique touches in the form of blue stripes on the bonnet and the Kolkata Police badging on the sides.

This is not the first time that Kolkata Police has added the Nexon EV to its lineup. In September last year, the Kolkata cops had inducted 226 Nexon EVs into its fleet to replace its diesel transport and patrol vehicles. This fleet of 226 vehicles were taken on lease for an 8 year period.

The addition of the Nexon EV to the Kolkata Police comes as part of the West Bengal government's plans to shift to electric vehicles for official purposes.

To encourage the general public of the state to adopt greener vehicles, the West Bengal government recently announced that people purchasing a new electric vehicle (two or four-wheelers) would not have to pay registration fees, motor vehicle and other taxes in the state. This order came into effect on the 1st of April 2022 and the offer will be available to the people of West Bengal till the 31st of March, 2024.

The Tata Nexon has become the nation's best-selling SUV with the electric version of the SUV, currently the best-selling electric car in India. Tata recently launched a new version of its electric SUV called the Nexon EV Max which features a bigger 40.5kWh lithium-polymer battery pack.

With its new battery pack, the new Nexon EV Max has a range of 437 kilometres on a single charge. Despite featuring a much larger battery compared to the regular Nexon EV, the new Max version of the electric SUV can charge its battery pack from 10 to 80 per cent in just 56 minutes when connected to a 50kW DC fast charger.

Tata is also offering the Nexon EV Max with an optional 7.2kW integrated charger for faster charging at home. However, this is a Rs 50,000 optional extra with both variants of the Nexon EV Max getting the 3.3kW charger as standard fitment. The Nexon EV max also brings in a few extra features like wireless charging and multi-mode regenerative braking among others.

Thoughts On The Tata Nexon
The Tata Nexon has slowly but steadily climbed to the top of the SUV mountain in India. Customers are flocking towards the Nexon and with Tata basing the start of its further EV push on the longer range electric version of the SUV, things are looking bright for the future of the Nexon.
