125 Mahindra Scorpio SUVs Delivered To Sri Lankan Police – 375 More To Go
The High Commission of India in Sri Lanka handed over 125 units of Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs to the Sri Lankan Police force.
The 125 units of the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs handed over to the Sri Lankan Police force is part of the existing line of credit. On top of that, the Sri Lankan Police force will get another 375 units of Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUVs.
Moreover, Mahindra is also planning to export the new Scorpio Classic SUVs to the island country. Speaking about the exports, despite the age of the platform, the Mahindra Scorpio Classic seems to have strong demand in a few foreign countries such as South Africa, Nepal and Bhutan.
That being said, the Mahindra is also considering exporting the Scorpio Classic to other countries in Africa as the SUV can be positioned as a more affordable alternative in price-sensitive markets. It is also worth mentioning that Mahindra is likely to export the new Scorpio Classic SUV to Australia as well.
Powering the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV is the same 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, turbocharged diesel engine as the previous model, however, few changes have been made and this engine now pushes out a respectable 130bhp of peak power at 3,750rpm and 300Nm torque at 1,600rpm to 2,800rpm. In terms of gearbox options, the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV now comes exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission. On top of that, there is no four-wheel drive option.
Thoughts About Mahindra Scorpio SUV In Sri Lankan Police
While the new Mahindra Scorpio Classic SUV is available in 2 variants, the Sri Lankan Police force received the hard-wearing base variants. This is in fact more suitable for the purpose of the Sri Lankan Police force. That being said, the usage of Mahindra Scorpio Classic in the Sri Lankan Police force will positively impact car buyers when Mahindra exports the Scorpio Classic SUVs to Sri Lanka.
