Car Sales Report For December 2020: Tata Motors Registers 21 Percent In Yearly Growth
Tata Motors has released their sales report for the month of December 2020. The carmaker has announced a yearly growth of 21 per cent in the domestic market. Tata Motors registered 53,430 units of sales in December 2020, compared to 44,254 units it sold in the domestic market during the same month in 2019.
Of the total domestic sales in December 2020, 23,545 units of sales came from the passenger vehicle segment. The PV segment of Tata Motors registered a massive 84 per cent increase, compared to 12,785 units of sales in December 2019.
The remaining domestic sales came in from the commercial vehicle segment. However, with 32,869 units of sales last month, the CV segment registered a 4 per cent decline when compared to sales in December 2019 which stood a bit higher at 34,082 units.
Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, stated,
"The PV industry continued to grow robustly in Q3 FY21, owing to pent up demand, strong festive season and shift towards personal mobility."
Chandra further added, "We are continuing to debottleneck the supply chain and ramp up our output to meet the increased demand while addressing the availability of electronic components."

Girish Wagh, President, Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, stated,
"The offtake continued to be higher than retail to support sequential month on month growth in retail while ensuring healthy inventory levels in the pipeline. We continue to monitor and work on the supply chain to improve availability, especially of electronic components, which impacted the output at the end of Q3."
Tata Motors also stated that its electric vehicle offering, the Nexon EV has also been received well in the Indian market. The company registered 418 units of sales of the Tata Nexon EV in December 2020, while also registering its highest-ever quarter wholesales of 1253 units.
