Nissan & Datsun Cars Prices Increased Again In India: New Prices Effective From April 2021
Nissan India has announced another price hike this year in the country. All cars sold under the Nissan and the Datsun brand are affected by the latest price increase. The new prices will be effective from April 1, 2021.
The company is yet to announce the exact percentage of the price increase for each model. However, the price increase will differ for each model and variant. Last time, the company had increased the prices across models by 5 per cent.
Commenting on the price increase, Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan Motor India Pvt Ltd, said, "There has been a continuous escalation in auto component prices, and we have tried to absorb this escalation over the last few months. We are now constrained to increase our prices across all Nissan & Datsun models, the increase varies from variant to variant, while still offering the best value proposition to its discerning Indian customers."
According to Nissan, the increase in pricing is due to the rise in input and manufacturing costs. There has also been a substantial increase in logistics costs, which has also influenced the price increase decision.
The price increase will affect all cars sold in both brands. Models sold under Nissan include the Kicks and the brand's current best-seller, the Magnite. Datsun models sold in the Indian market include the Redi-GO, GO and the GO+ compact-MPV.
Nissan offers two SUV models catering to various segments in the Indian market. The Nissan Kicks is offered with a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine, that offers segment-best performance.
On the other hand, the recently launched Nissan Magnite is one of the most affordable compact-SUV available in the country. The Magnite retails between Rs 5.49 lakh and Rs 9.79 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (India).
Moving to the Datsun line-up, the company's entry-level offering the Redi-GO is available in two engine options. The Redi-GO hatchback is the second cheapest AMT automatic car available in the country.
However, the Datsun GO takes the top spot for being the most affordable model sold with a superior CVT transmission in the county. The GO rivals such as the Tata Tiago, the Hyundai Grand i10 and the Maruti Suzuki WagonR are offered with only an AMT transmission.
Datsun's flagship model, the GO+, is a compact-MPV that can accommodate a total of six passengers plus the driver. The GO+ is also offered with a CVT automatic for superior performance as compared to its primary rival, the Renualt Triber.
Thoughts About Nissan & Datsun Cars Prices Increased Again In India
Nissan joined the list of manufacturers who have announced a price hike of all their models effective starting next month. The companies are recovering from the recently ended auto slowdown. However, the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic still poses some challenges for automakers in the production of their vehicles.
