Maruti Suzuki’s Fuel-Efficient Cars: K-Series Engines, S-CNG, Smart-Hybrid, HEARTECT Explained
Maruti Suzuki makes some of the most fuel-efficient cars in India. This is a fact that is known to almost everyone in the country. Some of Maruti Suzuki's cars have a fuel efficiency figure of over 24km/l, and that is quite an advantage to have on your side especially during today's times.
Maruti Suzuki's cars find a connection with their buyers as the carmaker puts the needs of the customers right at the core while designing and developing cars and the technologies they leverage. The Indian car buyer has always been conscious of fuel efficiency before making a purchase decision. No wonder almost 1 out of every 2 cars sold has been from Maruti Suzuki.
With advanced innovations like the K-Series engines, Smart Hybrid technology, and S-CNG, Maruti Suzuki cars offer class-leading fuel efficiency. Adding even more value to Maruti Suzuki's cars is the HEARTECT platform that makes the brand's cars stronger and safer.
Maruti Suzuki K-Series Engines
For a long time now, a majority of Maruti Suzuki's cars have relied on its K-Series engines. It is available in a wide variety of capacities and configurations to suit the requirements of buyers looking at various segments. Starting from a 1.0-litre and going up to a 1.5-litre, K-Series engines are something that the brand relies on heavily.
There are four K-Series engines powering Maruti Suzuki cars that are currently on sale - K10B, K12M, K15B, and Next-Gen Dual VVT Dual Injector K12N. The next-generation K-Series engine further enhances fuel efficiency via the idle start/stop system.
According to Maruti Suzuki, the Dzire running on K12N engine has a fuel efficiency figure of 23.26km/l when paired with a manual transmission. The figure goes up to 24.12 Km/l when the engine is paired with Maruti Suzuki's AGS (Auto Gear Shift) transmission making it the most fuel-efficient car in the segment.
S-CNG Technology
It is no secret that you get the best bang for your buck with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas)as a primary fuel in the car. Maruti Suzuki has taken this concept to the next level with the arrival of the smart factory-fitted S-CNG technology. It is a cleverly set up CNG fueling system that allows the driver to switch between Petrol and CNG at the flick of a button.
It also gets an intelligent injection system and is calibrated to deliver unmatched performance across various terrains. Maruti Suzuki is currently offering S-CNG technology on several cars including the Alto 800, Celerio, WagonR, S-Presso, Ertiga, and the entire commercial car portfolio.
The 1.0-litre WagonR equipped with S-CNG technology delivers a fuel efficiency of 32.52km/kg and that is just brilliant!
Maruti Suzuki Smart Hybrid Technology
A practical real-world solution, the Smart-Hybrid technology cleverly assists the engine with electrical power whenever required. Models equipped with the Smart Hybrid tech come with a dual-battery setup and enables the car to have useful features like torque assist, idle start/stop, brake energy regeneration, etc.
These features don't just enhance the driving experience, but also play a huge role in increasing the fuel efficiency of the car. Smart Hybrid tech is available in a variety of Maruti Suzuki's offerings including the Baleno, XL6, Vitara Brezza AT, S-Cross, Ertiga, and Ciaz. The Maruti Suzuki Baleno equipped with Smart Hybrid tech has a fuel efficiency figure of 23.87km/l.
