Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition Delivered To Paralympic Gold Medalist Sunil Antil
Indian SUV manufacturer Mahindra has delivered a special XUV700 Gold Edition, to Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games Gold Medalist Sunil Antil. Mahindra has also commenced deliveries of the all-new XUV700 to customers.
The Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition was delivered to Sunil Antil in Karnal, Haryana and features gold highlights that commemorate his record-breaking win in the Javelin Men's F64 category at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games earlier this year.
Antil broke the previous Javelin F64 record (also set by him), five times during what was his debut performance at the Paralympic Games. Antil registered his new World Record on his 5th attempt flinging his spear 68.55m away to easily clinch the Gold Medal. His closest rivals fell over 2 metres behind.
The Mahindra XUV700 Gold Edition is designed by Pratap Bose, EVP and Chief Design Officer, M&M Ltd. The custom Gold Edition is one of the first XUV700s to be delivered to a customer and features a midnight black exterior paint job along with gold accents on both the outside and inside.
Upfront, the XUV700's grille features gold plating on its vertical slats. The all-new Mahindra badge has also been plated in Satin Gold for this custom XUV700.
At the sides and on the rear, the record distance of 68.55 has been embossed as a badge alongside a figure throwing the Javelin. This too has been done in gold plating. The XUV700 badge alongside the Mahindra logo at the rear are also plated in gold.
The custom badge is also featured on the inside where it has been embroidered into the headrests for all six seats and onto the dashboard. The seats and the dashboard also feature stitching accents made using gold thread.
The all-new Mahindra XUV700 was launched on the 14th of August. Mahindra's new flagship SUV is offered with both petrol and diesel engine options that come paired with manual and automatic transmission options.
The petrol Mahindra XUV700 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which features dual overhead camshafts and four valves per cylinder. The turbo petrol XUV700 powerplant produces 197bhp at 5,000rpm and 380Nm of peak torque at just 1,750rpm. The petrol-powered XUV700 from Mahindra is offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. The petrol XUV700 is only offered with front-wheel drive.
The diesel Mahindra XUV700 draws its power from a 2.2-litre turbodiesel with common rail direct injection. This DOHC oil burner churns out 153bhp at 3,750rpm and a mighty 350Nm of peak torque at just 1,500rpm. The Mahindra XUV700 diesel is also offered with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The diesel XUV700 can send its power to the front wheels or to all four wheels if the owner opts for the All-Wheel Drive model.
The Mahindra XUV700 comes with a host of safety features including dual airbags as standard along with ABS, EBD and an overspeeding warning system that beeps once if you go over 80km/h. If speeds exceed 120km/h, the beeping becomes a continuous cacophony.
