Audi announces pre-bookings for the e-Tron GT in India. Ahead of its launch, the company is accepting pre-bookings for the upcoming electric coupe for a token amount of Rs 10 lakh. Along with the e-Tron GT, there are talks about the RS e-Tron GT entering the Indian shores as well.

Audi India Opens Pre-Bookings For Audi E-Tron GT & Audi

The Audi e-Tron GT and the Audi RS e-Tron GT being EVs, the biggest concern for most buyers will be range and charging times. With a powerful 800-volt architecture, both the e-Tron GT and RS e-Tron GT can charge at a maximum rate of 270kW using suitable DC chargers. This will allow the e-Tron siblings to charge from 5-80 per cent in just 22.5 minutes.

Both the Audi e-Tron GT and the Audi RS e-Tron GT feature an identical 93.4kWh battery and two electric motors. However, the sportier RS e-Tron GT produces a combined 590hp and 829Nm of torque.

Coming to the range, under EPA test cycles, the Audi e-Tron GT managed to do 383kms on a full charge, whereas the more powerful Audi RS e-Tron GT managed to do 373kms.

In overboost mode, the power jumps to a total of 637hp for maximum performance. This enables the Audi RS e-Tron GT to catapult from 0-100kmph in just 3.1 seconds and onto a top speed of 250kmph.

On the other hand, the standard e-Tron GT is propelled by a powertrain capable of 469hp and 629Nm, though this power can be bumped up to 522hp in overboost mode. This power out enables the Audi e-Tron GT to reach 100kmph from a standstill in 3.9 seconds and onto a top speed of 244kmph.

Even though looks are subjective, Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT are one of the best looking electric cars out there. One of the main reasons for this is the design itself.

Unlike other electric cars available in the market that try too hard to look like a car from the future, the Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT on the other hand look stunning yet futuristic without having to look unconventional.

This might be partly because of the large grille and gaping intakes present in the front bumper. Along with these, the absence of flush-door handles also tricks our minds. Coming to the rear portion, the Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT look even more stunning with their sloping roof and full-width tail lamps.

Despite having two large screens on the interior, the inside of the Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT is a reflection of the exterior that could be easily mistaken for any other conventionally powered Audi.

Speaking about the screens, the Audi e-Tron GT and Audi RS e-Tron GT boast a large 12.3-inch virtual cockpit and a 10.1-inch infotainment display. To add a bit of sportiness, the centre console is slightly tilted towards the driver.

The sportier Audi RS e-Tron GT even comes with 'sports seats plus' at the front that allows the user to electrically adjust the seat in 14 different ways. This seat also features lumbar support and seat heating. Apart from this, the sportier RS model adds special badges all around the cabin and comes with sportier stainless steel pedal caps and footrest.

Thoughts About The Audi e-Tron GT Pre-Bookings Opening In India

Even though Audi comes under Volkswagen Group, Audi's electrification plans for India are aggressive than its parent company and inline with its global plan where the brand is planning to achieve a product portfolio consisting of at least 30 per cent of electrification.

This electrification plan of Audi includes both fully electrified vehicles and plug-in hybrids that consist of an internal combustion engine and electric motor for propulsion purposes. After the launch of the e-Tron SUV, the e-Tron GT will be the brand's second offering in India.
