2020 Toyota Fortuner TRD Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 34.98 Lakh
Toyota Kirloskar Motors has launched the limited-edition Fortuner TRD in the Indian market. Prices for the special-edition SUV starts at Rs 34.98 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The Fortuner TRD features a host of cosmetic changes over the standard model.

Unlike the last year, this time around the company is offering the special-edition model in two automatic versions: two-wheel drive and four-wheel-drive. The top-specs Fortuner TRD four-wheel-drive model retails at Rs 36.88 lakh, ex-showroom (India).

The TRD variant is based on the top-spec trim of the Fortuner. However, the TRD model features some upgrades over the standard model. These include revised bumpers at the front and back, a new front grille and faux skid plates at either end, a dual-tone roof, charcoal black 18-inch alloy wheels and a host of TRD badging.

On the inside, the limited edition model gets a sporty treatment and offers added features that enhance the safety of the SUV. This includes a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, auto fold ORVMs, dual-tone scheme with a Black and Maroon colour theme, an Illuminated scuffle plate; among others. The seats will be finished in leather upholstery with contrasting red stitching all around along with door panels trims finished in red.

Additionally, the company is also offering the Fortuner TRD with a range of optional accessories to choose from. This includes a (HUD) Head-Up Display, a (TPMS) Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, puddle lamps, wireless smartphone charger for rear occupants, a digital video recorder and an air ionizer to help purify the air inside the cabin.

Mr Naveen Soni, Senior Vice President, Sales and Service, TKM, said, "Today, the customers demand more power, performance, safety, features and drive experience from vehicles. They are also seeking a freshness in the look and feel. With a customer-first approach and a dedicated passion for fulfilling their needs, we have introduced new products, variants and exclusive editions over the years."

He further added, "The Fortuner TRD Limited Edition is yet another effort to cater to the customer demands by offering more than what they seek through unparalleled and segment-leading features. An important accessory to the Fortuner TRD Limited Edition to ensure customer safety is the air ionizer owing to the concerns about the air we breathe in these challenging times."

Apart from the cosmetic changes, the limited-edition Fortuner is will remain the same, mechanically. Powering the TRD model is the 2.8-litre diesel unit that produces 175bhp and 420Nm of torque. It comes mated to a six-speed automatic transmission with sequential & paddle shift.

Mr Soni further stated, "What's more, the Fortuner TRD is truly exclusive and only limited units are being made available for SUV aficionados in the country. We also would like to express our gratitude to the Fortuner fan base in India for giving the brand the cult status it - today, enjoys. We hope the Fortuner continues to excite and thrill more and more Indians."

Thoughts About The 2020 Toyota Fortuner TRD Launched In India
The Toyota Fortuner TRD editions feature a host of important upgrades that give the limited-edition SUV both aesthetic and functional updates over the standard model. The company had earlier announced that it will bring a limited edition model of the outgoing Fortuner ahead of the 2021 version launch.
