Tata Motors is gearing up to launch a series of new models in the Indian market. The company is expected to launch a seven-seater SUV, called Gravitas and a tall-riding hatchback called the 'Hornbill', which was internally referred to as 'HBX'. The company is also expected to launch the petrol version on its existing SUV, the Harrier.

Now since the Government has eased the nationwide lockdown, businesses have started to resume in an organised manner following rules and regulations. All automobile launches have been postponed to this year-end or sometime in 2021. That is why the automakers are getting some time now to test out the products.

Coming to the Tata Gravitas, the SUV gets a five-spoke 17-inch alloy wheel on the test mule. Speaking about the design details, the Gravitas will borrow most of its features from the Harrier SUV including the split-headlamp setup. However, the rear of the SUV has been tweaked a little with a major change being a flat roof-line as compared to the swooping design of the Harrier.

Mechanically the Gravitas will be powered by a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, ‘Kryotec' diesel engine that churns out 168bhp of power and 350Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional six-speed automatic.

Talking about the Tata HBX, the vehicle will be built on the brand's ALFA architecture and the Impact 2.0 design, similar to the Altroz premium hatchback. The Hornbill will feature a tall-riding design, with a sleek looking grille inspired by the Harrier SUV.

Mechanically, the Hornbill is expected to feature the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that currently powers the Altroz premium-hatchback. The engine produces 85bhp of power and 113Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a manual transmission. The company is also expected to offer the petrol engine with an optional AMT at a later date.

Last but not least, is the Harrier, design-wise the new Harrier will remain the same. Mechanically, the SUV is expected to receive a new 1.5-litre Revotron petrol engine. The turbocharged engine will be capable of pumping out 148bhp of power and 250Nm of peak torque. It is expected to get both manual and automatic transmissions and this petrol motor is also expected to power the Gravitas at a later stage.

Thoughts About The Upcoming Vehicles From Tata's Portfolio

As we said that due to the nationwide lockdown, the production plants of manufacturers were shut-down for almost three months. After the lockdown has eased up, businesses have resumed and we are eagerly waiting for Tata to launch all of these vehicles soon in the Indian market.
