All-New Hyundai i20: Top Things To Know About The Latest-Iteration Of The Premium Hatchback

Bookings for the new premium hatchback already began a week ago. The new Hyundai i20 can be booked either online or via any of the brand's dealerships across India for an amount of Rs 21,000. Deliveries for the hatchback though is expected to begin soon. Ahead of its start, here are some of the top things to know about the all-new Hyundai i20:

Power & Torque Figures

The all-new Hyundai i20 comes powered by a choice of three engine options. This includes a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol producing 82bhp and 114Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual. The same engine churns out 87bhp when it is offered with the brand's iVT automatic gearbox.

The new i20 also comes powered by a 1.0-litre T-GDi petrol engine, mated to either a six-speed iMT transmission or a seven-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The 1.0-litre turbo-petrol is available only on the higher-spec variants and produces 120bhp and 172Nm of peak torque.

The premium hatchback also comes with a 1.5-litre diesel unit producing 100bhp and 240Nm of peak torque. This engine is mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission unit. All three engines are BS6 compliant as well.

Top Speed & Acceleration

The all-new Hyundai i20 comes with a range of powerful engine options across all its variants. Hyundai has revealed that the turbo-petrol engine mated with the seven-speed DCT gearbox is capable of accelerating from 0 - 100km/h in just 9.9 seconds.

However, the top speed of the premium hatchback is yet to be officially announced. However, we do estimate that the all-new Hyundai i20 will be capable of reaching a top speed of around 160km/h.

Having said that, this is just a calculated assumption at this point. We will update the actual top speed and acceleration figures for each powertrain option as and when released by Hyundai.

Mileage & Fuel Tank Capacity

The all-new Hyundai i20 comes with a standard fuel tank capacity of 37-litres. In terms of mileage, Hyundai at their launch event announced that the 1.0-litre NA petrol returns a fuel efficiency figure of 20.35km/l and 19.65km/l for the manual and iVT transmissions, respectively. Similarly, the 1.0-litre turbo petrol is said to return mileage figures of 20.25km/l.

The 1.5-litre diesel engine on the new Hyundai i20 is said to offer a fuel efficiency figure of 25.2km/l. This makes it the most fuel-efficient 1.5-litre diesel engine in the country.

Seating Capacity & Boot Space

The all-new Hyundai i20 is much longer, wider and taller than its predecessor. Hence, Hyundai claims that the new i20 is capable of easily seating five passengers comfortably.

The new Hyundai i20 is also said to be offered with a boot space of 311-litres with the second row of seats upright. The seats can be folded down to extend the luggage capacity, however, there is no 60:40 split.

Overall Dimensions, Turning Radius & Tyre Size

The Hyundai i20 premium hatchback as mentioned before features larger overall dimensions, when compared to its predecessor. This allows for additional cabin and boot space. Here are the dimensions of the all-new Hyundai i20:

While the official turning radius of the all-new Hyundai i20 is yet to be announced, considering its dimensions, we can expect it to be around 5-metres.

The new i20 also comes with 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels on the higher-spec variants. Mid and lower-spec trims, however, feature either 16-inch alloys or 15-inch steel wheels.

The all-new Hyundai i20 premium hatchback is offered in a range of four variants: Magna, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O). The new i20 now comes with a starting price of Rs 6.80 lakh while the top-spec trim is offered at Rs 11.18 lakh. All prices introductory and ex-showroom (India).

Colour Options

The all-new Hyundai i20 will be offered in a range of colour options. This includes six mono-tone and two dual-tone colours. The mono-tone paint scheme includes Polar White, Typhoon Silver, Titan Grey, Fiery Red, Starry Night & Metallic Copper. Similarly, the dual-tone options include Polar White/Black & Fiery Red/Black.
