Mumbai Police Seize Vehicles If Found Violating Restrictions: Cannot Travel More Than 2Km From Home

The Mumbai Police have announced strict travel restrictions across the city on the 28th of June, 2020. As per the new restriction rules, any person travelling outside a 2-kilometre radius of their homes, without a valid reason will have their vehicles seized.

According to TOI, the reason for these restrictions is the rising number of people at beaches, promenades and other public places; even as COVID-19 cases in the city and state are on a drastic rise on a daily basis.

The Mumbai Police stated that any travel for essentials, exercise or other reason should be done within a 2-kilometre radius. However, people with valid reasons such as work, medical emergency, or other valid essential services will be allowed to travel outside the 2km radius.

According to the new order, Mumbai Police have restricted all outdoor movement for essential services only. The new order also makes it compulsory for motorists to wear a mask whenever heading outside, moving outside the 2-kilometre radius has been strictly prohibited and will be allowed only for medical emergencies, people can visit shops, market place and open places for exercising only if it is within a 2km radius from their homes and maintain social distancing everywhere as well.

People will also have to strictly adhere to the night curfew between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Any person found violating this will be penalised strictly. However, medical emergencies and essential services will continue to be allowed.
