Auto Expo 2020: MG Hector Plus Unveiled - The Premium Six-Seater Version Of The Hector SUV
MG Hector Plus unveiled at Auto Expo 2020. MG Motors has unveiled a seven-seater SUV for the Indian market, called the Hector Plus. As the name suggests, the MG Hector Plus is essentially a more premium six-seater version of the popular Hector SUV already on sale in the country.
The MG Hector Plus comes with essentially the same design as the standard five-seater Hector SUV. However, look closely and you will find certain changes and subtle updates. In terms of dimensions, the six-seater Hector Plus is 40mm longer in length, although the wheelbase is identical at 2750mm.
Starting with the front, the new Hector Plus is no void of any and all chrome accents, which was offered on the five-seater variant.
The Hector Plus comes with black-finish below the LED DRLs and around the blacked-out front grille; the design of which remains unchanged. What has changed, however, is the design of the main headlamp and fog lamp unit, positioned on the front bumper. The housing position is the same as on the five-seater, although MG has made a few tweaks to its design.
The side profile on the seven-seater plus is exactly similar to that of its five-seater sibling. The Hector Plus even comes with the same design for its alloy wheels, along with the thin chrome strip running below the window line.
The rear profile has also pretty much remained unchanged. However, MG Motor has done away with the red element which connected the two LED taillights, although the chrome strip remains.
The interiors of the MG Hector Plus will be similar to the current five-seater variant. The six-seater Hector Plus will carry forward all the features, connected technology and the safety equipment from its five-seater variant. However, there could be a few additional features as well.
Powering the MG Hector Plus though is the same set of 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines, which also powers the five-seater variant. The 1.5-litre turbo-petrol is BS6-compliant and produces 115bhp and 250Nm of peak torque.
The 2.0-litre diesel, on the other hand, continues to remain BS4 for now, churning out 173bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The petrol engine also comes with a 48V mild-hybrid system as optional. The two engines are mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with the optional seven-speed DCT on offer with the petrol variant.
Thoughts On The MG Hector Plus Unveiled At The Auto Expo 2020
The MG Hector Plus offers higher seating capacity compared to the five-seater Hector model. The new MG Hector Plus will be priced at a slight premium compared to the standard Hector SUV. It will also rival against the likes of the Mahindra Alturas G4, Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner.
