2019 Volkswagen Ameo Cup — Registrations Now Open
Registration details of Ameo Cup 2019 are now out. Volkswagen Motorsport India has officially opened registrations for Drivers' Selection, to participate in the 10th edition of India's Touring Car Series and the third edition of the prestigious Ameo Cup Series championship.
The selection round will be held in Kharadi, Pune at the Indi Karting Track. Those who have registered for the race will be selected on the basis of their performance in karting sessions. The drivers will be judged by an expert panel, taking factors such as consistency in performance, lap times, driving attitude, racing-line precision and versatility into account.
Once the Drivers' Selection gets over, the contestants will race against each other as part of MMSC-FMSCI Indian National Racing Championship. The races will be held at Madras Motor Race Track (MMRT) in Chennai, Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore and finally, at Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida.
Those who are interested to participate in this year's Ameo Cup Series can fill in their details in the following link:
The last date to register is 3rd February 2019.
Powering the Volkswagen Ameo Cup racing car is a 1.8-litre four-cylinder turbocharged TSi petrol engine that is mated to a race-engineered sequential transmission. The exact specifications and output figures (200bhp-plus) are confidential, but the Ameo Cup car is claimed to be the fastest vehicle that has ever rolled out from the Volkswagen Motorshop India workshop.
The format for the 2019 edition of Ameo Cup series includes a grid of 20 identical-spec cars and 10 races scheduled throughout the year, at various circuits mentioned before.
Speaking about the 2019 season, Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India shared, "2019 is a special year for Volkswagen Motorsport in India. We are entering our 10th year and looking back, I feel a sense of pride in the journey that we have covered be it in terms of the progress we have made in infrastructure to the work we have done in raising awareness about motorsport in the country and supporting amateur and seasoned talent alike. We have had some great races last season and I look forward to another year of superb talent and racing season."
Thoughts On Ameo Cup Racing Series 2019
The Indian motorsport scene might not be the best compared to that in foreign countries. However, over the past few years, racing enthusiasts have witnessed consistent growth in the field of Indian motorsports, thanks to organisations such as FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India).
Volkswagen Motorsport India's Ameo Cup Series is a perfect kick-starter for a racing career in India and we strongly recommend you to sign in your name, if you have the zeal for speed.
