Toyota Innova Crysta Still Remains The Best MPV In India — Grabs 11,200 Bookings In December Alone

Toyota Innova booking details: 11,200 Innova bookings made in December 2018 alone. The booking figures prove its market dominance.

The Toyota Innova Crysta has once again proved why it's the best MPV in India. In December 2018 alone, the Innova Crysta acquired a whopping 11,200 bookings. The impressive booking figure translates to a business of over Rs 2,200 crore for the Japanese automaker in India.

The MPV market in India is becoming more competitive with time with the likes of the new Mahindra Marazzo, Maruti Ertiga and even the upcoming Renault RBC (based on the Kwid). These MPVs spread over a wide price range.

Economic Times says that despite being much expensive than the previous model, the latest-generation Innova still finds enough customers for both private use as well as cab services. Comfort, reliability and Toyota's excellent service network are some things which make the Innova a big seller.

Coming back to the overwhelming market performance, Toyota India shared that the bookings made in December is almost double that of the Innova's monthly average made last year. The overall sales figures account to more than 80,000 units.

N Raja, Deputy Managing Director of Toyota Kirloskar told that the Innova has witnessed a record market growth in 2018, even while the competitors were strong. "We had rolled out our annual 'Remember December' campaign consisting of exciting benefits to bring a year-end cheer to the customers in line with the company's consistent efforts towards enhancing customer delight. In the month of December 2018 we have witnessed high orders to the extent of 11,000 plus for Innova Crysta which is almost 50% jump as compared to the average monthly orders," he said.

The 2016 Toyota Innova Crysta came at a starting price of Rs 13.84 lakh ex-showroom (Mumbai), with the figures going all the way up to Rs 20.78 lakh. There are two diesel engines of offer: 2.4-litre (five-speed manual) and 2.8-litre (six-speed automatic). The former makes 150bhp and 343Nm of torque while the latter is capable of churning out 174bhp and 360Nm of torque.

Considering its age on the market, it is time for a refresh. However, Toyota India has not shared any news regarding such an update.
