Renault Triber Automatic (AMT) India Launch Expected Early Next Year
French auto manufacturer Renault launched the Triber MPV last week. The MPV is available with a manual transmission for now, but the company plans to launch a variant with an automatic transmission early next year.
Rumor has it that power and torque figures will remain unchanged and stand at 71bhp and 96Nm respectively. The automatic transmission unit is likely to be offered only on the RXT and RXZ trims.
Renault has built the Triber for the younger generation of buyers, The MPV is versatile, offers high ground clearance, and lots of cabin space at an affordable price. The unique selling point of the Triber is its customizable seat layout that can be configured for more people or luggage. Seating can be configured to carry two, four, five, six, or seven people, depending on need.
The compact MPV features virile styling on the outside, making it look like a crossover, another factor that attracts buyers towards it. The interiors feature a touchscreen infotainment system that has Renault's MediaNAV interface, GPS navigation, Bluetooth, and is Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatible.
Safety features include twin airbags, ABS, reverse parking sensors, speed alerts, seat belt reminders, and ISOFIX child seat mounting points across all variants. This allows for the entry level RXE variant more attractive to buyers.
The Triber MPV features a 1.0-litre petrol engine that produces 71bhp of power and 96Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to a five-speed manual transmission. The MPV is currently priced between Rs 4.95 lakh and Rs 6.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
We expect the automatic variants to carry a Rs 50,000 (approximately) premium over the manual transmission variants. The Triber does not have any direct competition thanks to its relatively low price tags.
Thoughts About The Automatic Variants Launching Early Next Year
Yes, good job Renault. But why didn't you launch an AMT at the get go? We think every manufacturer needs to have an AMT variant at the very beginning. Indian consumer are very interested in automatic transmissions right now and the trend is growing. C'mon Renault! Get it done.
