MINI Cooper S 60 Years Edition Unveiled — Marks 60 Years Of MINI; 60 Years Of Driving Fun
The new MINI Cooper S 60 Years Edition has been officially unveiled. As the name suggests, the special MINI Cooper S model is a tribute to the British automaker's 60th anniversary. Only 500 units of the car will be made and each of them is priced at 29,990 pounds (roughly Rs 27.5 lakh, before taxes). Deliveries start in March 2019.
The MINI Cooper S 60 Years Edition will be available only in one paint scheme — the iconic British Racing Green, along with some blacked-out elements. The black treatment starts from the roof and extends down to the mirrors, headlamps and the 17-inch alloy wheels. A white theme is also available.
In addition to this, the hot-hatch gets bonnet stripes, LED puddle lamps (under the wing mirror), and a neat-looking set of spot lamps at the front. Another nice touch is the exclusive '60 Years' badges/decals spread all over the car.
On the inside, the new 'MINI Copper 60' comes with exclusive Dark Cacao leather seats with contrast stitchings and pipings in British Racing Green. The seats also feature the '60 Years' label.
In addition to all the standard equipment on regular MINI Cooper models, the 60 Years Edition has a few extras such as Navigation Plus and Comfort Plus packages; together which offer a host of features: 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, ambient lighting, rear parking sensors and camera and electric ORVMs.
The MINI Cooper S 60 Years Edition is powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine which makes 189bhp and 207Nm of torque. The power plant is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission which drives the front wheels.
The Cooper S has a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 237km/h.
Being limited to just 500 units, chances for the MINI Cooper S 60 Years Edition to reach the Indian market are low. The current MINI Cooper S sold in India has a starting price of Rs 37.10 lakh ex-showroom, and rivals the Volkswagen GTi, Mercedes-Benz A-Class and Volvo V40.
