Mahindra XUV300 BS6 Petrol Launched In India: Prices Start At Rs 8.3 Lakh
Mahindra has launched the XUV300 BS-VI compact-SUV in the Indian market. The new Mahindra XUV300 is the brand's first BS-VI compliant model in the country. Prices for the new BS-VI variant of the Mahindra XUV300 starts from Rs 8.3 lakh while the top-spec variant is priced at Rs 11.84 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).
However, Mahindra has updated only the petrol engine on the XUV300 to comply with the BS-VI emission norms. The diesel engine on the Mahindra XUV300 continues to be BS-IV compliant. The company is looking at introducing other models as well in a phase-wise manner, ahead of the deadline of April 2020.
Rajan Wadhera, President, Automotive Sector, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said,
"We are delighted to launch our first BS 6 vehicle. It is a milestone in our BS6 transition journey. Despite tight timelines, we along with our suppliers, have met the challenging requirements of these tighter emission norms, much ahead of the stipulated timeline. We will progressively upgrade our entire range with cleaner emissions technology."
The Mahindra XUV300 continues to be powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. The BS6 compliant petrol engine will produce the same power output figures of 110bhp and 250Nm of peak torque; mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox.
The XUV300 is also offered with a 1.5-litre diesel engine. This engine churns out 115bhp and 350Nm of torque, mated to a six-speed manual, with the optional AMT automatic transmission on offer. The diesel engine is yet to be updated to the new stringent emission norms.
The Mahindra XUV300 was launched in February 2019 and was an instant hit in the Indian market. However, over the past couple of months, strong competition from the Hyundai Venue have affected sales. Mahindra is hoping that the introduction of the BS6 model will help revive sales in the Indian market.
Thoughts On The Mahindra XUV300 BS6 Petrol
The Mahindra XUV300 is the first product from the Indian car manufacturer to be compliant with the upcoming BS6 emission norms. The BS-VI update will roll out in a phase-wise manner to other models as well. The Mahindra XUV300 will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport and Tata Nexon.
