Kia Seltos World Premiere — The ‘Made In India For The World’ Kia Seltos Is Here!

The Kia Seltos has been unveiled. With the world premiere of the Kia Seltos, the Korean automotive manufacturer marks its debut in the Indian market as the Kia Seltos is also the first Kia product for India.

Kia has certainly gone all out with the Seltos and is offering the best in terms of safety, equipment and powertrain. The Kia Seltos is without doubt an extremely stylish car and Kia has played around with a lot of design elements to make it look so stylish.

Right up front is the signature tiger nose grille design that has been a hot topic of discussion among auto enthusiasts. The grille comes with chrome surrounds, with crown jewel LED headlamps on either side.

The headlamps unit also comes with neatly integrated dynamic LED turn signal indicators. At the bottom is an attractive bumper design with neatly integrated fog lamp enclosures. The air dam has a neat silver coloured outline. It comes with ice cube LED fog lamps.

Kia claims that the Seltos was designed keeping the Indian market in mind. At the sides, it comes with a strong and muscular shoulder line. The Kia Seltos rides on uniquely designed diamond-cut alloy wheels.

At the rear are LED tail lamps with a chrome element between them. The rear bumper is once again muscular and comes with a dual-muffler design. Buyers will get a choice of 8 colour options and 5 two-tone colour options. This allows individuals to customise their own cars.

The Kia Seltos boasts of well-appointed interiors that are packed with features. Kia has attempted to give the Seltos' interiors a premium feel and they certainly have succeeded at it. Soft-touch materials are found all across the insides and the dashboard looks modern. The steering wheel is chunky and comes equipped with steering-mounted controls for the infotainment unit.

The instrument cluster is completely digital and even comes with a small MID for additional information to be displayed. Kia has even added a brilliant heads-up-display that makes it feel so much more premium.

Taking centre-place on the dashboard is a 10.25-inch touchscreen unit ith advanced connectivity options. The system can change vehicle settings as well as provide entertainment to the occupants of the Kia Seltos. It even comes with Navigation and a 360-degree camera system.

Taking the premium feels further is an 8-speaker audio system from Bose. We haven't heard it yet, but we can certainly say that Bose speakers would not be disappointing. Kia has also added in an ambient lighting system with several colour options. The ambient lighting units are located near the speakers as well and the system syncs it with the tempo and groove of the music being played, which is certainly a first-in-class feature.

Kia will be launching the Seltos with the best even in terms of drivetrain. Buyers can choose between petrol, turbo-petrol and turbo-diesel engines. The petrol variant is powered by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine and the turbo-diesel engine is also powered by a 1.5-litre engine.

The new entrant here is the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine which will be the first in its segment. We can expect a high power and torque output from this engine. Kia has also provided lots of transmission options to buyers of the Seltos.

Buyers can choose between IVT (Intelligent Continuously Variable Transmission), a 7-speed DCT a 6-speed automatic and a 6-speed manual gearbox. The 1.4-litre turbo-petrol combined with the 7-speed DCT seems like the best option to have fun with. This spec is called the GT-Line and this marks the debut of Kia's performance division in India.

The Kia Seltos also boasts of three main driving modes — Normal, Eco & Sport. Alongside this, the driver can also choose mud, wet and sand grip level modes. This programs the traction control system and all its peripheral systems to put down the power to the road in the right way.

The Kia Seltos features top-notch safety features like ABS with brake assist, ESC, hill assist control, vehicle stability management, traction control system stolen vehicle tracking and immobilising, blind view monitor, rear and front parking sensor, 360-degree camera, six airbags, etc.

The Kia Seltos will be manufactured at Kia Motors India's plant at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. With an annual capacity of around 3,00,000 units, production is expected to begin in the second half of 2019 which we have just stepped into.
