Update: Hyundai has launched their first compact-SUV, the Venue in the Indian market. The Hyundai Venue is offered with a starting price of Rs 6.50 lakh, ex-showroom (India).
Hyundai India is all set to launch the much-awaited Venue SUV in the market today. Hyundai unveiled the Venue last month simultaneously in India and in New York. Here, we join Hyundai for the much-awaited launch of the Venue SUV.
The Hyundai Venue is the brand's first sub-4 metre compact-SUV offering in the country. The Venue will be position between the Elite i20 premium hatchback and the popular Creta in the brand's India lineup.
The Venue will feature Hyundai's latest design language, including the signature cascading hexagonal front grille, dual headlamp set up with LED DRLs and LED tail lights. It will also borrow certain styling cues from its sibling, the Creta — read our first look review of the Hyundai Venue here.
In terms of powertrain options, the Hyundai Venue will be available with three engines: a 1.2-litre petrol producing 83bhp and 115Nm of torque; a 1.4-litre diesel churning out 89bhp and 220Nm of torque and the top-spec 1.0-litre turbo-petrol producing 120bhp and 170Nm of torque.
The 1.2-litre petrol is borrowed from the Elite i20 and will come mated to the same five-speed manual gearbox. The other two engines will be mated to a six-speed manual, with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol also getting the optional seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission as well.
