Hyundai India also announced plans to continue retailing BS-IV vehicles until the end of March 2020, with the idea of offering lower priced units to potential customers.

The company hopes that they will starts introducing BS-VI complaint vehicles by the end of this year or during the first quarter of next. Hyundai is confident of their technology as far as research & development are concerned.

Hyundai will upgrade their fleets to BS-VI compliance over the next few months. The company launched the Grand i10 Nios, their first BS-VI compliant model, just recently. However, only the model's petrol variant is BS-VI compliant. Diesel variants still run BS-IV compliant units.

According to plans that Hyundai has drawn, all their products including diesel models & variants will be upgraded to BS-VI compliance. Also part of their plan is to keep costs to a minimum, and offer buyers quality products that are economical and competitively priced.

With the Finance Ministry clarifying that BS-IV compliant vehicles are to remain operational for the entire duration of their registration, Hyundai feel that sales will go up as newer emission laws catch up with the industry.

Hyundai India has no current plans of venturing into new segments. They also said that they were studying and researching the market and its trends. They will be ready to take a leap into the MPV segment if they find enough demand.

Hyundai has no fear of other manufacturers trying to get into the mid-size SUV segment. They have taken time to establish themselves as a market leader, and are confident that the Creta will continue to dominate the segment. They also foresee growth in the segment itself.

Hyundai is in the process of giving the Creta a facelift but will launch the SUV after factoring in market conditions.

The Creta's greatest fight is with the recently launched Kia Seltos - an SUV that has a record number of features, is competitively priced, and has amassed a large number of bookings since it's launch on 22 August.

Thoughts About Hyundai's Plans To Launch BS-VI Models Early Next Year

Hyundai's being real smart about this. Sitting back and watching other manufacturers unfold into the BS-VI chaos is giving Hyundai enough time to work their magic. That's more than enough time to perfect the BS-VI upgrade modules, find the best local vendors, price competitively, and upgrade the Creta to match if not out-perform the Seltos.
