Ford Endeavour Facelift Hits Production In India — Launch To Happen Soon
Ford Endeavour Facelift: India-spec version of new Ford Endeavour facelift hits production. The Endeavour facelift might launch within a few months.
Ford India has officially started the production of the new Endeavour facelift. The facelifted Ford Endeavour does not showcase a major revamp over the current model, but adds some essential bits to maintain desirability in its segment. The seven-seater premium SUV segment in which the Ford Endeavour competes is dominated by the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and even the newly-launched Mahindra Alturas G4.
GaadiWaadi shares that the new Ford Endeavour will launch in India "sooner" than it was initially expected. Reports state that the SUV will be launched in the second quarter of 2019 (April - June) so as to absorb most of the market which would otherwise go to the new Alturas G4. The updated Endeavour was recently launched in Thailand and in some other markets (as the Ford Everest).
We have already driven the all-new Mahindra Alturas G4; the Indian version of the SsangYong G4 Rexton. Read our comprehensive review of the Alturas G4 to know more.
The facelifted Ford Endeavour, as mentioned before, does not bring a complete overhaul. Changes on the exterior include a larger triple-slat front grille, revised bumper layout and refreshed headlamp cluster. Inside, the Endeavour gets the brand's latest SYNC infotainment system which supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The Indian version might also come with Ford's new 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine, which powers the international variants. If rumours are true, it will be offered in two states of tune; thus replacing the current 2.2-litre and 3.2-litre engines.
The lower tune is expected to produce 180bhp and 420Nm while the higher variant makes 212bhp and a strong 500Nm of torque. The higher tune will be achieved by adding one more turbocharger, along with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. In both tunes, the output is better than what it is at present.
The existing version of the Ford Endeavour achieved decent a sales figure last year, at 6244 units (roughly 520 units/month). This accounted for only a one-per-cent reduction in sales compared to 2017.
It is too early to comment on the pricing of the Ford Endeavour facelift, but we expect to start from around Rs 28 lakh ex-showroom.
Thoughts On The New Ford Endeavour Facelift
The Ford Endeavour is the go-to nametag when it comes to buying a premium seven-seater SUV in India; if not the Toyota Fortuner. Ford India launched some really good products last year including the Freestyle, Aspire and EcoSport S, and with the facelifted Ford Endeavour, the brand's portfolio will become even stronger.
