2019 Renault Duster Facelift Launched In India At A Starting Price Of Rs 7.99 Lakh
The 2019 Renault Duster facelift has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 7.99 lakh. The Renault Duster facelift has been launched with 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines with prices ranging between Rs 7.99 lakh and Rs 12.49 lakh. The engines are still BS-IV compliant and it remains to be seen when Renault would make them BS-VI compliant.
The Renault Duster is the SUV that single-handedly brought Renault to the forefront of motoring in India. It also introduced the compact SUV segment in India. However, the Renault Duster grew old and competition in the segment grew manifold. Due to this, the sales of the Renault Duster fell by a huge margin.
Renault decided to counter this downfall in sales by introducing the new Renault Duster that has been launched today. The 2019 Renault Duster facelift sports loads of aesthetic changes. The SUV now features a bolder, more muscular design.

It features a new grille design, with chrome elements adding a premium touch to it. It also gets a new headlamp design with integrated LED DRLs. The 2019 Renault Duster facelift has been made available with two new colours - Caspian Blue and Mahogany Brown." The Caspian Blue shade in our opinion makes the car look young. The Renault Duster has also seen several other changes inside the car as well.
It now sports midnight black interiors and the seats feature blue glaze. The dashboard features a dual-tone centre fascia. The steering wheel is new and the instrument cluster has been redesigned as well. The 2019 Renault Duster now sports a new 7.0-inch MediaNAV Evolution touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also features voice recognition and EcoGuide.
Sound is reproduced by four speakers and two tweeters from Arkamys. The 2019 Renault Duster facelift also comes equipped with a fully automatic climate control system, and illuminated and cooled glovebox.
In terms of powertrain, the 2019 Renault Duster facelift is being offered with the same 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines as the outgoing model. The 1,498cc, naturally aspirated, four-cylinder petrol engine produces a maximum power output of 105bhp and a peak torque output of 142Nm. It comes mated either to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox that comes with a 6-speed manual mode option.
The diesel variants on the other hand are powered by a 1.5-litre dCi turbo-diesel engine. It is available in two states of tune. One of them produces 83.8bhp and 200Nm with a 5-speed manual gearbox handling transmission duties. The higher tune produces 108.4bhp and 245Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Braking duties are still handled by disks up front and drum brakes at the rear. Renault has enhanced the safety features of the SUV. The new Renault Duster is compliant with the new Indian pedestrian safety norms.
It features ABS with EBD, driver and front passenger airbags, rear parking sensors, seatbelt reminder and speed alert as standard. Higher variants get features like reverse parking camera, electronic stability program and hill start assist.
Venkatram Mamillapalle, Country CEO & Managing Director, Renault India Operations said, "We have a clear goal of growing the Renault brand in India. Towards this, we are strategically strengthening our product range, expanding our network reach and initiating pioneering measures to ensure customer delight. Duster plays a pivotal role in our product portfolio and has the widest offering in the segment, enabling us to cater to evolving customer needs. We are confident that the new Duster will resonate well with discerning Indian customers."
Thoughts On Renault Duster Launched In India At A Starting Price Of Rs 7.99 Lakh
The Renault Duster is an SUV that is very much loved by Indian buyers. However, the competition did bring sales down for a while. With the new 2019 Renault Duster Facelift, Renault would be attempting to increase sales of the Duster once again. We still feel, India needs the next-gen Duster and not just a facelift.
